Do you add beets to your salads šŸ„— ?

5 reasons why you should add beetroot to your diet:

1. They contain nitrites - increasing nitric oxide in our blood that helps our blood vessels expand —> increasing blood flow + reducing blood pressure 🩸 .

2. They are rich in betalains, which can help fight inflammation in the body 🄊.

3. They contain potassium - about 9% of the recommended daily amount in 100 g of beetroot. Potassium deficiency can cause fatigue, weakness and digestive issues 😪 .

4. They keep our bones healthy with magnesium (6% of the recommended daily amount) + copper + folate šŸ’ŖšŸ¼ .

5. They keep our liver healthy by increasing the amount of detoxifying enzymes🫧.

The World Heart Federation celebrates World Heart Day on the 29th of September every year to raise awareness of Cardiovascular Disease (CVD).

CVD is the leading cause of death worldwide and is a major health threat in the UAE.

More than half of UAE residents have been affected by heart disease during their lifetime, either through being diagnosed themselves, having a close friend or family member diagnosed with it.

A healthy diet and lifestyle are the keys to preventing and managing CVD. A heart-healthy diet may help reduce cholesterol levels, lower blood pressure, reduce your risk of diabetes and help you maintain a healthy weight.

Make sure to eat enough fruits and vegetables, whole grains, legumes, omega-3 rich foods such as fatty fish, nuts and seeds.

Do you think you may have PCOS?

Being diagnosed with a medical condition can turn your life around, having the correct information about your condition is essential.

Most of us truly want to understand our health and weigh our options for treatment, thus we turn to the internet looking for answers.

Researching online about your condition can be overwhelming. There is a load of information and it is important for us to realize that not all of it is a 100% accurate. It is easy to fall into misconceptions about your condition.

Conditions such as PCOS are complex and it is crucial to seek out professional help to truly understand what your body is going through and what treatments and alternatives you may choose.

Let’s bust the five most common myths about PCOS!

Insulin resistance is one of the root physiological imbalances in most, if not all, cases of PCOS.

Insulin is a hormone secreted by the pancreas to lower blood glucose by pushing it into cells for energy or storage as fat.

When the cells don’t respond very well to insulin, the pancreas need to pump out more and more insulin in response to high blood glucose levels. When this resistance goes on for a while, you have high insulin and high blood sugar.

High insulin can also increase testosterone levels.
Although testosterone is often thought of as a male hormone, all women need a small amount and having slighter higher levels can cause an imbalance.

Women with PCOS have a higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease and endometrial (uterine) cancer at an early age.
Thus, it is crucial to get the right advice and treatment as soon as possible.

If you have PCOS and are struggling to manage it, please feel free to call 02 565 1212 or email contact@bounceback.ae.
