Dr. Makoto Nakanishi, Professor at the University of Tokyo, spoke with Hadley Gamble at Abu Dhabi Global Health Week about how chronic inflammation lies at the heart of the aging process and how targeting it could unlock additional years of healthy life.

His research shows that in mice, selectively eliminating inflammation-inducing cells can extend lifespan and rejuvenate tissue function. Now, his team is working to translate those breakthroughs to humans by developing tools to measure an individual’s biological aging, not just their age in years.
