With so much of mental health information so easily available online and on social media , we tend to feel the information we read is so relatable that it leads us to a trap of self diagnosing . Often times , when you read a post or watch a reel or a video you tend to feel and think “ this sounds exactly like me “. But , then what we fail to understand and recognize is that our emotions and feelings are complex and not everything is a disorder nor is it a “one size fits all “ content . Labeling and self diagnosing leads to unnecessary worry and many times it might miss the deeper problem or issue . Staying in this state of self diagnosis prevents you from seeking help and support.
This is why speaking to a professional can bring clarity and reassurance which social media can’t.
