The Philippine Consulate General in Dubai proudly launches “Labindalawa: 12 Activations for June 12,” a six-month campaign leading to the 127th Philippine Independence Day in June 2025. Inspired by the Filipino word "Labindalawa," meaning "twelve," this initiative features 12 unique activations celebrating the diverse dimensions of freedom. Each activation reflects Filipinos' creativity, resilience, and cultural pride in the UAE while fostering a sense of unity and shared identity within the global Filipino community.
The campaign’s inaugural event, “Museo sa Konsulado,” celebrates freedom of expression through art. It features the Spectro Lucid Gallery by Filipino artist and curator Mr. Carlo Garrido, a collection that bridges surrealism and contemporary art, showcasing profound narratives and symbolic imagery. Adding to the celebration is the remarkable “Labindalawa” logo, designed by Mr. Gino P Banola, a self-taught Baybayin calligrapher and founder of Panitik Calligraphy. Through his dedication to the Philippines' ancient script, Mr. Banola has brought the beauty of Baybayin to life, preserving its heritage while sharing it with a global audience. His logo symbolizes the campaign’s mission to honor the evolving concept of freedom and its many expressions within the Filipino community.
During the launch, Consul General Marford M. Angeles emphasized celebrating freedom as a living and dynamic concept. “Labindalawa is not just a countdown to Independence Day; it is a celebration of our shared journey, creativity, and resilience,” he said. CG Angeles encouraged the community to participate in the activations, highlighting Filipino ingenuity while inspiring future generations to embrace their heritage.
