A while ago, I did a poll to ask you guys if you wanted to know more about metabolism, so here you go ⤴️

🔆The vitamin-B complex is actively involved in extracting energy from carbs, fat & protein⁣

🔆There are 8 vitamin B’s out there & they are all water-soluble which means they are not stored in our bodies, & usually any excess amounts will be excreted ⁣

🔆These vitamins act as co-enzymes (like co-pilot) to the enzymes (pilots) that accelerate body mechanisms. For some enzymes, they may need coenzymes to work faster & for others they fully depend on the coenzyme to function ⁣

🔆So, if vitamin B’s are needed for energy metabolism, does more = more energy? 💡 ⁣
𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲.. ⁣
Because any excess is excreted from our bodies, if you get enough vitamin B from your food, any extra will just go to waste ⁣
Also, the body prefers food form vitamins as they are more readily absorbed by the body in most cases ⁣

🔆Supplements are needed to supplement your diet. If your body isn’t getting enough from your diet, which is why you should always follow up with a health professional before splurging on supplements ➕⁣

All teas come from the same plant: the camellia sinesis found in India & China ➡️ this means that they have the same origin — so what makes them so different? ⁣⁣

☕️ It’s actually the process of oxidation that exposes tea leaves to oxygen that leads to the tea’s distinct aroma, flavour, & strength ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
🍵 Interestingly, the less oxidized the tea (i.e. white & green tea) the more antioxidants it will contain & less caffeine ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
☕️ While teas do contain caffeine, they are drastically lower than coffee — which is great if you’re looking for a low caffeine drink alternative ➕⁣⁣

🍵 The antioxidants in teas help 𝐟𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 free radicals which are unstable molecules that can damage the body ➡️ therefore teas can help prevent diseases ⁣⁣

The purpose of this post is 𝐍𝐎𝐓 to shame any food choices 🙅🏻‍♀️ but to provide you with the tools to make informed decisions 💡 ⁣

Focusing on one aspect of food can have you blinded to all its other components ⁣

I used a generic example ⤴️ take an Apple 🍎 & Kit Kat bar, both red on the outside & their sugar component is 22 g each / comparison stops there right? NOPE⁣

While similar in their sugar composition, on the inside they bring different benefits to the table. An apple, naturally occurring, will have natural antioxidants & minerals — the chocolate bar on the other hand doesn’t have those nutrients therefore, your eyes shouldn’t stop at the sugar content on the nutrition table ⁣

Now this doesn’t mean one is “healthier” than the other. The health umbrella is 𝐇𝐔𝐆𝐄 ⁣
& it includes overall physical, mental & emotional well-being. If the chocolate bar is what you need occasionally to feel good & makes you happy ✨ then by all means go for it & I support that decision 💪🏻 ⁣

Understanding food & its compositions help you understand foods as a whole so next time someone falsely claims that these foods are the same you can stop them with science 🧪 ⁣
