Today is Autism Acceptance Day 💙🎗♾️

Today, we are reminded that the puzzle was never the person 💙

Autism is not something that needs to be solved. It is something to be understood, embraced, and celebrated. Behind every label is a human being with dreams, talents, fears, and a story that deserves to be heard. ❤️

Watching you stand there, finding your voice and sharing your thoughts with courage, fills my heart in ways words can’t fully express. Every step you take, no matter how big or small, is a testament to your strength, your uniqueness, and your beautiful way of seeing the world. 🥹

You are not a puzzle. You are not a problem to fix.
You are a person: whole, capable, and extraordinary just as you are.

Today AND EVERY DAY, we choose acceptance over awareness, understanding over judgment, and love over labels.

So proud of you, Lyle, always💙

Wishing you and your family a very happy, prosperous, and blissful Eid✨️

Living on a Spectrum

By: Nikki Satterlund

I live on a spectrum
Of colors and lights
Where here it is dark, and here it is bright
But mostly,
I balance on the shades in between.

In my world, yellow is happy
And blue is sad.
And a rainbow is what I am.
A rainbow of colors, the shape of a circle,
Where the ink bleeds from beginning to end.

My colors, they shine like lights.
Bursting from me.
Society wants to dim the lights,
Put a lid on them,
Tuck them away from everyone’s eyes.

Because somehow,
I’m never enough.
I’m always too much.
Not disabled enough for this
Too disabled for that.

But my world,
This spectrum
Is not a puzzle
Though I am a piece.
There are no slots, no puzzle shaped holes
But maybe this piece was not meant to fit in.
Maybe none of us were.

I’ll spin, I’ll stim, I’ll flap.
I’ll be who I am
And love who I love
And think how I think
And stand where I stand.
I’ll drop my balancing act
Uncap the lid
Let out my light
And break out of the shades in between.

My thoughts on Mattel’s Autistic Barbie 💜

Is she a representation of Lyle? No.
Is she a representation of some individuals on the autism spectrum? Absolutely, YES!

Autism is a very wide and diverse spectrum, and no single figure can represent everyone. They partnered with ASAN, definitely means they want to make this right. Still, this is a meaningful and positive start toward visibility and inclusion.

Save the date!!! Jan 31!

Sabay-sabay nating i-level up ang kanilang kakayahan! 🚀
