Festivals, Food, and the Happiness Quotient
If you look at any Indian & UAE festivals and special days, there is one common denominator: FOOD.
Always at the center!
Onam’s grand sadya laid out on banana leaves, Eid-e-Milad’s warm bowls of sheer khurma, Teacher’s Day sweets shared with mentors
Each plate and offerings are different, but the joy behind it is the same.
Festivals are a great reminder of those undeniable feelings and emotions: joy, pride, excitement, love, support, appreciation and care. And the special food we prepare represent nutrition, community, gratitude and celebration.
When we eat together, laugh together and share these moments, our happiness quotient rises naturally.
I often get asked if festivals disrupt healthy habits. My answer? Festivals are not disruptions, they teach us balance. That’s what wellness is all about. You can enjoy the payasam, the biryani, the ladoo, and still be mindful. Because what truly nourishes us is the joy and connection that come with them. So, this festive season, I urge you to slow down, savour and enjoy the flavors on our plates and the happiness they create around us.
