If you've been experiencing neck pain accompanied by numbness, tingling, or weakness radiating down your arms, you may be dealing with a condition known as cervical radiculopathy. This blog post will help you understand what cervical radiculopathy is, how to recognize its symptoms, and the treatment options available at Advanced Orthospine Health Center.

What is Cervical Radiculopathy?
Cervical radiculopathy occurs when a nerve in the cervical spine (the neck region) becomes compressed or irritated. This can happen due to various reasons, including herniated discs, bone spurs, or degenerative changes in the spine. When the nerve is compressed, it can lead to pain, numbness, and weakness along the nerve’s pathway, typically affecting the shoulder, arm, and hand.

If you’ve been experiencing persistent low back pain, you may have come across the term "spondylolisthesis." It might sound complex, but understanding this condition is the first step toward finding relief. Let’s break it down together!

Spondylolisthesis occurs when one of the vertebrae in your spine slips out of place, either forward or backward, in relation to the vertebrae below it. This misalignment can lead to nerve compression, resulting in pain, numbness, or weakness in the legs.

While it can affect anyone, it’s more common in athletes, especially those involved in sports that require hyperextension of the spine, like gymnastics or football.

Fallen arch, or flat feet. Flat feet has two types: structural and functional. In functional you may see a small arch but it disappears as you stand and specially when you put body weight on one leg during walking . So it is not right to look at your foot while sitting, curling your foot and say I have arch . We consider an arch only when it stays when you put all your body weight on one leg. That s how we test it . In these images the person was on double leg stance and still you can see there was no arch :) so yes you have flat feet .

Runner’s knee, or patellofemoral pain syndrome, is a common condition among runners. It occurs when the kneecap (patella) rubs against the femur (thighbone). While it can be painful, with proper care and treatment, it can be managed effectively.

Prevention is Key
1. Preventing knee pain is crucial for any runner. Incorporate these tips into your training routine:

2. Proper Footwear: Invest in running shoes that provide adequate support and cushioning.

3. Gradual Increase in Mileage: Avoid sudden increases in running distance or intensity.

4. Cross-Training: Engage in low-impact activities like swimming or cycling to rest your knees.

Let's talk about your shoulder. It's a marvel of engineering, allowing you to reach, lift, and throw with ease. But like any complex machine, it can break down. One common issue is a rotator cuff tear.

What's the Rotator Cuff, Anyway?

Imagine your shoulder as a ball and socket joint. The rotator cuff is a group of muscles and tendons that form a kind of cuff around this joint, helping to stabilize it and allow for smooth movement. It’s like the unsung hero of your shoulder.
