Here in lies the truth about birth - what it shouldn't be and what it should be for all birthing women/people.
I love that so many women are finding their way through a system that can actively destroy them, traumatise them, then offer no support at the end of their journey into parenthood.
Many are being left traumatised, lost, depressed and suffering.
We (birth professionals, birth Dubai Doulas, doulas, birth workers, light workers, trauma experts, midwives) need to offer more support, more help, a way back for all birthing women/people to feeling whole.
The new Mother/parent needs to be held, healed, love, nurtured and shown the path back to healing x x
My wish is that more mothers actively exult in the birth of their baby/babies......and have support/guidance/nurturing to know their intuition is always right !!!! even in the darkest moments, the tired moments, the moments of self doubt - they are the champions of birth and life x x

Home births...........should be an option in every country in the world.
Support from midwives, doulas, birth companions - this is what is needed.

What a great quote about home birth and first babies from French obstetrician Michel Odent!

"The first birth is the most important birth to have at home because if a woman has a beautiful experience with her first birth then perhaps she can go to the hospital with her second or third. She will never let them do anything to her because she knows her body works from that first birth."

I had some great responses to my last post about home birth and first babies. Lots of people who'd had their first baby at home, and a few wishing they had.

It is amazing how we think it is ok to cut the cord .....tie the cord ....but we never consider burning the cord off .

Maybe we need to rethink how the baby, cord and mother are separated. How do we bring peace back to birth?

Peace on earth, begins with peace at birth x

Umbilical Cord Burning ♥️

In 2004 when the devastating earthquake and Tsunami hit Aceh in Indonesia, midwives were trained and taught to burn the umbilical cords of babies. They had no medical instruments left and no way to sterilize what they did have so umbilical cord burning was used to detach the baby from the cord and also prevented newborns dying from tetanus caused from cords being cut with rusty or unsterilized scissors.

This teaching was led by Robin Lim, a Midwife and Founder of Yayasan Bumi Sehat (Healthy Mother Earth Foundation), which funds birthing and educational clinics in Indonesia.

A slow, steady, and ever so silly separation.
A reminder of the many hands that hold us.

When you write out your birth preferences/choices/your voice on paper - remember you have choices of what you want to happen to you during labour/birth. Know the research, know your choices, become empowered!!!

Intermittent auscultation involves listening to the fetal heart for a minute or so every 15 to 30 minutes in labour, or more often if there is a concern. Listening can be done with a stethoscope or a Doppler. Research shows that intermittent auscultation is just as safe as CTG monitoring for preventing stillbirth and neonatal death, but the chance of having a caesarean, forceps, or vacuum birth are less.

You’ll find more information about both intermittent auscultation and CTG monitoring here -
