يُعرف هذا بمتلازمة التوأم المتلاشي، حيث يتوقف نمو أحد التوأمين في المراحل المبكرة من الحمل، ويتم امتصاصه بشكل طبيعي من قِبل الجسم. يحدث هذا عادةً في الثلث الأول من الحمل، وغالبًا ما يمر دون ملاحظة.
في معظم الحالات، يستمر الجنين المتبقي في النمو بشكل طبيعي. ولكن من الناحية النفسية، قد تشعرين بفقدانه.

This is called vanishing twin syndrome — when one twin stops developing early in pregnancy and is naturally absorbed by the body. It usually happens in the first trimester and often goes unnoticed.
In most cases, the remaining baby continues to grow normally. But emotionally, it can still feel like a loss.
