Giardia Antigen Test

1. Objective
To detect the presence of Giardia lamblia antigens in a stool sample using an immunoassay method, aiding in the diagnosis of giardiasis.

2. Principle
The Giardia Antigen Test is typically based on an enzyme immunoassay (EIA) or immunochromatographic assay. The test detects specific antigens from Giardia lamblia in the f***l specimen. Antibodies specific to Giardia antigens are immobilized on a solid phase, and when the sample is added, the antigen binds to these antibodies. A secondary antibody with a color indicator binds to the antigen-antibody complex, resulting in a visible color change (or readout), indicating a positive test.

3. Materials
• Giardia Antigen Test kit (includes test devices, sample buffer, and reagents)
• Stool sample container
• Disposable gloves
• Micropipette or dropper (as per kit instructions)
• Timer
• Biohazard disposal bag

4. Procedure
(Note: Procedure may vary slightly depending on the test brand)
1. Collect a fresh stool sample in a clean container.
2. Add a small amount of the stool to the sample buffer tube provided in the kit and mix thoroughly.

4. Wait for the specified time (usually 10–15 minutes).
5. Read the results: a control line should appear to validate the test; the appearance of a second line indicates a positive result.
