🎉 Surprising Pediatric Fact:
Babies are born with about 270 bones, but adults only have 206.
Why? Because many bones—especially in the skull and spine—fuse together as a child grows. That’s also why fontanelles (soft spots) exist in neonates: they allow for brain growth and flexibility during birth.

The stapes (smallest bone in the human body) is fully developed at birth—and never grows. It’s just 0.1 inches long, but essential for hearing.
