Dear Surgeons of SAMIS,
We are very excited to announce the start of the SAGES Global Laparoscopic Advancement Program (GLAP) in Armenia. THIS IS A BIG DEAL! Armenia will be the first GLAP location on the Asian continent. By embracing this important program, we will show SAGES and the entire surgical world that Armenia values surgical education. The GLAP program is designed to teach standardized education and laparoscopic skills, while helping the surgeons in the partnering country continue the program by training new surgeons year after year. This is a rigorous and rewarding program. Aside from participating in didactic lectures & skills training, participants will have the opportunity to be involved in research and publications of the collected data.
We are recruiting surgeons in Armenia to be the first GLAP program participants. It is our goal to have this group be filled with very dedicated surgeons who value learning, education, collaboration and advancing surgical training for themselves and for their colleagues. The participants can be general surgeons, urologists or gynecologists with varying degrees of laparoscopic skills. Only motivated and dedicated surgeons will be considered because the lessons will be 1-2 times a week for several months. Participants need to be at every online lecture and every hands-on skills training done in Yerevan. Currently, all the training will be in English by SAGES GLAP instructors via virtual sessions. If participants all complete the virtual sessions successfully then SAGES will consider Armenia for further in-person training.
