Looking back at the week that just passed ... It is one of those mornings… have you been there?
Started with a happy “Mama! ☺️” — then a hug and a kiss… and I thought: ah, it will be a great morning!
But it’s Wednesday. And when has a Wednesday morning ever been great?
Fast forward → your child is on the floor, screaming in rage because… You are wearing your hair the wrong way. (This same child was a math genius just yesterday!)
You tried everything — gave space, validated the feeling, offered hugs, waited… nothing worked. And of course, it’s the one day you have to be on time for work.
The work is not the problem — you like your job.
The kid is not the problem either — you like them, too.
But somehow… You are still late. Very late.
Maybe a quick yell would fix it? (I mean… no one is looking, right?)
But then the guilt hits. The knowing that your kid just can’t regulate their emotions yet. The poor little being crying themselves out over someone else’s bad hair day…
But somehow it passed. Was it a yell after all or a harmless threat... or was it all by the book - neat and well-reflected? One of those, anyhow. I don't even remember how.
The kid is all happy again - forgotten all about it, all smiles.
And what about You?
What is the feeling left over?
What’s the story you tell myself?
Guilt, self-justification, understanding, love, compassion, pride… back at guilt...? If you are a mother, you know.
And yet — sometimes the most responsible, mature thing we can sometimes do is… let go.
🌿 Let go of the guilt and invite compassion.
🌿 Let go of the perfectionism and allow connection.
🌿 Let go of the self-optimization and ask for help.
🌿 Let go and simply show up.
This is why I created Held(in): Embodied Motherhood Circle.
