There are many beliefs about motherhood that we carry around and live on-repeat. These four are ones that I am currently re-learning... as it happens with most things, one this is to know it and another to live it.
Truly un-learning requires understanding, awareness, compassion and supportive community.

This is the work we do in Heldin. Because every mother is a heroine — and every heroine needs a space to be held.

Mothers, do you need another piece of advice? ... or a "let me tell you how I did it"?

My gut feeling tells me otherwise.
Sometimes, what we need isn’t advice. It’s to be listened to & seen. To be held.

How do I know? It happened to me - again.

I shared the story about how a simple hug over spinach strudel reminded me why I created Held(in).

Looking back at the week that just passed ... It is one of those mornings… have you been there?

Started with a happy “Mama! ☺️” — then a hug and a kiss… and I thought: ah, it will be a great morning!

But it’s Wednesday. And when has a Wednesday morning ever been great?

Fast forward → your child is on the floor, screaming in rage because… You are wearing your hair the wrong way. (This same child was a math genius just yesterday!)

You tried everything — gave space, validated the feeling, offered hugs, waited… nothing worked. And of course, it’s the one day you have to be on time for work.

The work is not the problem — you like your job.
The kid is not the problem either — you like them, too.
But somehow… You are still late. Very late.

Maybe a quick yell would fix it? (I mean… no one is looking, right?)
But then the guilt hits. The knowing that your kid just can’t regulate their emotions yet. The poor little being crying themselves out over someone else’s bad hair day…

But somehow it passed. Was it a yell after all or a harmless threat... or was it all by the book - neat and well-reflected? One of those, anyhow. I don't even remember how.
The kid is all happy again - forgotten all about it, all smiles.
And what about You?
What is the feeling left over?
What’s the story you tell myself?

Guilt, self-justification, understanding, love, compassion, pride… back at guilt...? If you are a mother, you know.

And yet — sometimes the most responsible, mature thing we can sometimes do is… let go.

🌿 Let go of the guilt and invite compassion.
🌿 Let go of the perfectionism and allow connection.
🌿 Let go of the self-optimization and ask for help.
🌿 Let go and simply show up.

This is why I created Held(in): Embodied Motherhood Circle.
A place where you can share mornings like this without shame.
A place where mothers listen, support, and learn from each other — and from timeless practices that nourish our wellbeing.

More than a year and a half ago, my life changed in a way I did not see coming.
Separation, moving to a familiar and yet foreign city, away from family, navigating life and work… all while caring for my most precious gift and responsibility – my child.

This is not a story of “me against the world.”
This is not a story of “I did it all alone… perfectly.”
It is a story (still in progress) about connection and love.

Through tears and laughter, tantrums and dances, help and unimaginable support, relentless work and self-discovery, I’ve learned one thing: one cannot do it alone — and one should not have to do it alone.

✨ This is why I am creating Held(in): Embodied Motherhood Circle. ✨

A place for like-minded mothers to pause, reset, grow, and support each other.
A place to be held, and a place to rise within.
