The end of the year is just around the corner! This group is perfect for parents whose babies are due late November through to March. I would love to support you on your positive birth journey. This course is suitable for all risk pregnancies, all types of birth and all types of maternity care. Feel prepared, release fears, understand and trust the process of birth.. plus your birth support person (partner) will transform into the best doula ;)

It was 330ish in the morning. My 2.5year old daughter had just woken up a little confused as to why I had been in the shower.
“Why are you having a shower Mummy?”
“I’m in labour, I think the baby is coming”
“You got labour?” 🤣

My husband was quickly filling the pool, organising for our Midwife and photographer to make their way over, I woke my Mum up to cuddle my 2.5year old while I jumped back into the shower.

Not too long later the pool was filled (we learnt from our second birth to use the hose and put a bucket in the bottom of the shower to fill it faster) and I couldn’t wait to get in.

My husband woke up around 4.5year old and she came running out so excited, ripping her pjs off to join me in the pool.

There was no fear! Only excitement! Between surges I was able to chat and smile with my older two moments before birthing their little brother. This is their first introduction to birth! No fear induced births we see in movies. The did giggle at my “horse breathing” in the bearing down stage 🤣

Did you know you are quite literally wired to give birth!

Birthing is a primitive reflex. Instinct, in fact.
So I guess you’re wondering why we need to attend birthing classes then?

Unfortunately, there are many internal and external factors which can inhibit our mind and bodies own innate behaviour to birth instinctfully.

The outer part of our brain, the neocortex is responsible for all our high functioning, let’s call it our rational thinking part of the brain.
The primitive or reptilian part of our brain is where our instinctful behaviours happen, like breathing, reproduction and BIRTHING!

So why is this relevant?
When our neocortex is highly stimulated, perhaps an engaging conversation or bright lights it plays off on our primitive part of our brain and makes it harder for those natural birthing instincts to innately happen.

This is why it’s really important to bring your birthing support person(partner/sister/mother) along to classes with you. On your birthing day they will have a flurry of emotional and physical tools and know your birth plan well, so they can act as your neocortex for you… So all you need to do, is breathe and let your mind and body do what it’s built for, birthing your beautiful babe 😜
