Let’s talk 🎙️ about levelling up ✨ Life has been pretty chaotic lately. I’ve found myself in a place I committed to never being in ever again. The irony is, I know I am exactly where I am meant to be. 🙌

My journey so far has prepared me for this. It’s time to level up and learn how to get myself out of the freeze state I drop into when things get too much. To make the most of every day and to practice gratitude for what I DO have. 🫶

I have lived my life until now waiting for things to get better before I truly look after myself. When in freeze, it’s difficult to find the motivation to prep healthy meals or to exercise. I often cancel as much as I can to rest (which isn’t a bad thing when it’s called for).

I am being challenged to change my mindset. To realise and accept that life will always have times when everything feels bloody hard and the only person who can make my life better is ME! I have to accept that I will continually be moving through these situations.

STEP 1 … slow down , connect with nature and get grounded. 🍃

STEP 2 … problem solve. What can I do to improve my situation, even if it’s only one tiny thing? 📝

Comment below 👇What do you do to move through challenging situations? What works best? I’d love to know ♥️

Have a fabulous day.

Much love 🫶

As a single woman supporting her adult children on her own, going through challenging times without a partner for support is both heartbreaking 💔 and liberating 🤗. Both can be true at the same time.

While I crave to be held and reassured everything is going to be ok and to have a partner who has my back always, challenging times force me to either disassociate OR self reflect and reevaluate what I’m doing and why things aren’t working. Taking the time to ground myself in nature is an essential first step for my self reflection process.

I feel proud when I work through the most challenging of times on my own and come out the other side emotionally stronger. It’s not easy by any means this human journey we find ourselves living. Growth comes with the acceptance that the human experience means we go through times where we feel uncomfortable while at the same being grateful for what we do have (there is so much to be grateful for 🙏🦋).

Life is a journey where the destination is always shifting. We can choose to make the most of every moment. ✨

I sat on the steps in my back yard tonight in awe of the beauty of this magnificent sunset and waxing crescent moon 🌙. I noticed in this moment how at peace I felt and was incredibly grateful for the experience after a long day at work🕊️. I also noticed how regulated and calm my nervous system felt.

It’s these little things that can completely turn our lives around if we pay attention to them. They a truly a gift from above 💞.

It’s true what they say, the best things in life are free and who doesn’t love a beautiful sunset?

Much love 💞

“By far, the greatest challenge following the end of a DV relationship is helping the kids heal when you are unhealed” Allison Gaskin

Leaving a DV/unhealthy relationship is the beginning of a new chapter but it’s not all butterflies and rainbows 🦋🌈. How can a parent hold space for their kids and help them begin their healing journey when the parent themselves feels broken?

My healing journey has been a very long road but one that turned a corner when the kids and I started healing as a family. We developed our wellness toolkits and vulnerably speak about our thoughts, feelings and experiences. Sometimes the conversation can be confronting and uncomfortable but we hold space for each other in those moments. I am so grateful for my beautiful (now adult) kids. They are my everything ♥️

🎙 “YOU ARE THE CREATOR OF YOUR OWN LIFE”

We often feel as though things that happen in our lives are out of our control and often they are, but we DO have control over how we respond. There is always a choice to make.

Do you agree?

🎙️ Let’s talk about HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS.

We often talk about what an unhealthy relationship looks like and what red flags 🚩 to look out for BUT what does a healthy one look like?

Here’s 7 indicators of a healthy romantic relationship …

1️⃣ Communication
2️⃣ Trust
3️⃣ Mutual Respect

Trigger warning: Trauma .. You never know when it’s going to surface.

Since my post announcing I was going to start talking about domestic violence and unhealthy relationships here, I’ve had a lot of suppressed memories surface that I won’t sugar coat as being ok. I do, however, accept that my healing journey is ongoing with no end date and so I am ok when this happens.

As always when trauma surfaces, I have reached into my well-being toolkit and chose to journal ✍️. I need all the emotionally damaging events to be acknowledged and validated, albeit to myself. I ended up writing pages of dot points of things that happened over a 20+ year period. It was alarming to fully see in writing what I had endured.

Recognising the journey I have travelled and being at peace with it all in the knowledge I can get through anything is so healing for me. I no longer need to rely on others to validate for me that what happened wasn’t ok as I can do that for myself 🤍.

A lot of anger has surfaced which I’m happy about because it really needs to be released (in healthy ways). I’m spending as much time in the beautiful sun in nature as I can at the moment and will release my anger through breathwork and moving my body to shake off all that yucky energy. I’ll likely crank up the music and have a dance session with my boys in the lounge room 💃🏼🕺🏼.

If you’re experiencing trauma or a trauma trigger, please know there are lots of things we can do to get through it. Sending love 🤍

👩‍❤️‍👩 IF YOU HAD TO WRITE A LETTER TO YOUR 5-YEAR-OLD SELF, WHAT WOULD YOU SAY❓

Dearest Allison ✨,

Please know that you are never alone. Everything you will ever need in life is already within you. Your life is going to be a rollercoaster like nothing you could ever imagine 💝. Self-discovery is going to be your greatest journey and making the world a better place for your children your greatest motivator.

You don’t know it yet but SELF-LOVE 💖and pure AUTHENTICITY 💖 is going to be the key to your happiness. You will not always get it right (you don’t have to be perfect) but you will discover so much about yourself along the way. You will not understand and appreciate happiness and bliss without having experienced the darkness, so instead of feeling tortured by those moments in time, love on them and reflect on the lessons 🍃. If you do this, you will be amazed by your growth and outlook on life. You will learn that you are so much stronger than what you think 💪🏋️‍♀️.

You already know what your life’s purpose is .. trust it because you have a lot to offer the world so go work your magic 🧚‍♀️🧞‍♂️. Stay connected with your soul and always allow yourself to experience fun, joy and laughter 💃.

Most of all, always know I LOVE YOU! My arms are tightly wrapped around you 🤗.

I LOVE YOU BABY GIRL. FOREVER AND ALWAYS 💘
