We just wanted to let everyone know that our usual DMD newsletter be postponed until May but it’s for a very exciting reason.🎉

We’ve had a wonderful new addition to the DMDTBC team, Zoe has joined us in the office as part of our admin crew working with Thalia who does our accounts! 🌸

Alongside working behind the scenes, Zoe will be taking over our social media, website, and newsletter.

We want to give a huge thank you to 79 Exons for organising such a fun and festive event we’re feeling very grateful to have shared last weekend together celebrating🎄

We had an incredible time at this year’s Christmas party. Shared some laughs over great food before heading over to Glitter Pines which was amazing, and it was awesome to see the kids light up with Joy. The kids were stoked with their Christmas gifts provided by 79 Exons!🎊

It was great to see so many happy faces and to catch up with everyone before the holidays. We want to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season and we can’t wait to see you all in the new year!🎁

We’re getting excited for our end-of-year Christmas Party on Saturday 13th December – and we’d love to see you there!

🙌🏻 Services Highlight 🙌🏻

We wanted to share a win from some of our Capacity Building services this week! 🫶

Thomas has been working with one of our 19 year old participants with Duchenne who has been keen to become a clothing seller.

Thomas developed a structured weekly program where he can launch and manage his own Depop shop, backed by his team of support workers. Each week, he will curate items to post, identify pricing, respond to offers, track his income, and update the page regularly - building capacity for running his own self-employed business!

They launched his Depop shop this week and posted their first listings - not even an hour after launch, they already received an offer 👕 🔥

We are proud of the work going into this and can’t wait to see this meaningful interest turn into something more. Watch this space - we hope to share the shop for everyone to check out once the full collection is live!

Spin Kids Hits Semaphore! ☀️🎠

We had such a fun time out and about with the Spin Kids crew a few weekends ago!

The group kicked off with a sweet treat at Yochi for some frozen yoghurt (always a winner 🍓🍫), before heading down to the jetty for a walk with a view since the sun was shining. We wrapped things up with a spin on the Semaphore Carousel, the kids jumped on without much hesitation, while some of the adults might have looked slightly more nervous 😅

It was a great day filled with sunshine, laughter, and plenty of smiles. Big thanks to everyone who came along and made it such a great outing!

The Young Ones Spin Kids had an awesome day out yesterday exploring the Botanic Gardens doing a scavenger hunt!

There were all sorts of treasures to find — from colourful flowers and giant leaves to birds, bats, and ancient trees. Everyone got involved, ticking off their lists and spotting all sorts of surprises along the way. Even the grown-ups got involved!

It was a great way to spend time together, enjoy the sunshine, and have a laugh. Thanks to everyone who came along and made it such a fun day.

We’re so proud to share something very special from one of our community legends – Charlie, who has created his very own recipe book!

As part of his final school project, he decided to collect his family’s treasured recipes and turn them into a cookbook that could be shared with others – especially those living with DMD or similar challenges. With support from DMD Consulting, Charlie thoughtfully included his own tips and tricks for cooking that offers practical guidance for others who may be navigating fatigue, mobility limitations, or fine motor difficulties.
