How long does IVF take? 🤍
The truth? Every journey is a little different — but here’s what the IVF process typically involves:
1. Ovarian Stimulation: Fertility medications are used to encourage the ovaries to produce multiple mature eggs.
2. Monitoring: Blood tests and ultrasounds track your response and help tailor your treatment as your follicles grow.
3. Egg Retrieval: Once your eggs are ready, they’re gently collected in a short procedure under sedation.
4. S***m Collection: On the same day, a s***m sample is collected and prepared in the lab.
5. Fertilisation: Eggs and s***m are brought together — either naturally (IVF) or with ICSI, where a single s***m is injected into each egg.
6. Embryo Development: Fertilised eggs (embryos) are nurtured in the lab over a few days and closely monitored.
7. Embryo Transfer: A selected embryo is placed into the uterus — usually a simple and painless process.
8. Embryo Freezing: Extra good-quality embryos can be frozen for future transfers, giving you more options.
9. Pregnancy Testing: About two weeks after transfer, a blood test checks for pregnancy hormones — a moment full of hope. 🤍
