The Department of Aged Care (DoHAC) released an eye-opening report in August, 2024 detailing the gravity of the GP shortage in Australia.

Despite a growing number of GPs in Australia, that number continues to fail to keep up with growing demand.

The report predicted a shortfall of 2400 full-time equivalent GPs in 2024, rising to 3900 by 2028 and 6100 by 2048.

The reality is that practices that don’t use recruiters will struggle to find suitable candidates.

This leads to increased hiring costs and longer vacancy periods.
