AdMental is an annual event that asks emerging Advertising Creatives to create an online viral video with a mental health and wellbeing message. This initiative is presented by Adelaide Advertising and Design Club (AADC), SA Health’s Office of Public Health, the Mental Health Coalition of South Australia and the Don Dunstan Foundation. Each year this team works on a brief that targets a specific mental health message. This brief is then presented to students forging a career in Advertising. Students pitch their ideas with two chosen to go in to production. They then compete in a public event with the winner taking out the Geoff Robertson Memorial Award and winning a one year scholarship to Award School, thanks to AADC.

Back in 2019 we tackled mental health in older people.

Our focus groups told us that retirement can be a lonely time because we don't really plan for it.

Check out this smart entry, done simply with the reliable vox pop.

This is the 2019 AdMental winning entry from Peter Ferris which poses the question around how we intend to age well.

AdMental aims to create a social movement by selling mental health and wellbeing.

Each year we tackle a new group with a mental health message.

Join us on Monday 13 November at Braggs Theatre, Adelaide University as our two emerging Creatives tackle Men's Mental Health.

AdMental is in its sixth year and is an event that asks Adelaide’s emerging Advertising Creatives to produce an advertisement to “sell” mental health and wellbeing.

This is an annual event which brings together Adelaide Advertising and Design Club (AADC), Don Dunstan Foundation and the Mental Health Coalition of South Australia (MHCSA). Each year this team works on a brief that targets a specific message with previous years covering mental illness, loneliness in older people and workplace mental health and wellbeing.

The event is inspired by ‘The Pitch’ segment of the TV show ‘The Gruen Transfer’. Two emerging creatives are tasked with the same brief: create a clever and thought provoking advertisement to promote mental health for a specific demographic. Each creative is partnered with a local advertising agency, who mentor them through the process. The final advertisements are presented at the event and judged by a panel of industry experts. The winner receives the Geoff Robertson Memorial Award and a one year scholarship to Award School.

This year's brief?
Develop a 30-60 second video highlighting the need for understanding and support for the mental health of men aged 45-65 years.

The Challenge?
Lots of men have mental health challenges and there is an assumption that men have a reluctance to talk. Whereas in fact, many just need the right situation to open up.

Join us as we find out whose viral video hits the mark.
