Big congratulations to our new Team Manager, Jacob! 👏🎉 A familiar face to many of our clients and team, Jacob has been with Bridging Barriers since the early days — and we’re so excited to see him step into this next chapter.
“Being given the opportunity to be a Team Manager is something I’m incredibly grateful for. With the trust and belief from Chelsea and our staff, I feel a big responsibility to support both our clients and our amazing team. I’ll do all I can to provide a safe, enjoyable and empowering space for everyone.”
Jacob has always been driven by connection, care, and community:
“I’m excited to work more closely with our support workers — getting to know them, building those relationships, and making sure we’re delivering the best experience possible to our clients.”
His journey with Bridging Barriers started back in the early days:
“Chelsea and I actually went to high school together at Mercedes College. After I returned home to Adelaide from studying in the U.S. — I’d been there for five years completing a Bachelor’s in Psychology and a minor in Sociology — we caught up and she offered me a role as a support worker. I’ve always had a passion for understanding people and our differences, and this felt like the perfect way to use what I’d learned while making a real difference.”
Over the past 3 years, Jacob has supported a wide range of clients across different age groups and disabilities. But one thing stays the same:
“What I love most is the interactions with our clients. While our job is to support and empower them, I’ve found they’ve taught me so much about myself. I genuinely live a more balanced and meaningful life because of it.”
As he steps into his new leadership role, his goals are simple but powerful:
“I want to be a support worker our clients trust and enjoy spending time with — and a colleague our team feels comfortable coming to for support. I’d also love to help match workers and clients based on shared interests and personality fits.”
And his daily motivation?
“Life is short — and we only have so much time to pursue our passions, achieve our goals, and make an impact on the people around us.”
