Yes, it’s finally official — after 21 wonderful years at Keswick, Smart Health is moving to a new home!

Following a careful and patient search after plans to redevelop our Keswick site, we’re absolutely thrilled to announce that Smart Health will be relocating to the iconic 88 O’Connell Street, North Adelaide in the latter part of 2025.

Our new clinic will be located on Level Two of the Archer Tower, offering stunning views of the Adelaide Hills, CBD, and Adelaide Oval from our treatment and exercise areas. This inspiring environment reflects the high standards of care, expertise, and service you’ve come to expect from us every day.

Accessibility has been front of mind throughout this process. The building provides easy access from both O’Connell and Archer Streets, along with 116 complimentary, high-clearance undercroft car parks for clients. You’ll be able to reach our clinic via a stylish staircase through the open atrium or a lift located right next to our reception.

We’ll be sharing regular updates as we move closer to the transition — including progress on the fit-out and all the exciting things ahead.

Thank you for being such a valued part of the Smart Health community. We can’t wait to welcome you into our new clinic later this year. Until then, we’ll continue to be here to help with all those aches and pains!

Last Friday the Smart Health Team downed tools and came together to renew their cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid training. There was plenty of action as everyone brushed up on the latest in these essential life-saving techniques.

Our trainers put us through our paces with a series of stations to test us on the theory content we had all completed prior to the day. Jen impressed us all with her chest compressions, showing incredible skill and precision. Russell did a fantastic job performing rescue breaths under Lincoln’s watchful eye. Robyn had a smile on her face even as Lisa placed her in the recovery position. Kelsey’s quick actions and calm demeanor were put to the test when she effectively managed Tania’s mock fainting episode and Abby and Natasha enjoyed refreshing their pediatric skills with the mannequins.

The Smart Health Team walked away from the training feeling confident and up to date with the latest CPR and first aid techniques. It’s reassuring to know that we are prepared to handle any unexpected situations that may arise.

We continue to prioritize safety and well-being in our workplace, supporting each other and working together to create a safe and healthy environment for all. Great job, team!

Are you a student of Yoga? Or would you like to try it, but don’t know if it’s for you?
We were fortunate to have along to Demystify Yoga for us. There are many different styles of yoga and Ellie’s overview has given our practitioners a greater understanding of what type of yoga may suit different bodies, injuries, and conditions. A well-educated yoga teacher will also advise on what style of yoga may be beneficial for each person on their road to healing.

Smart Health would like to congratulate one of our amazing clients, Alex Laws, on making a return to the National Level sport competition.

Alex was a highly competitive swimmer in the 1980s, representing Australia. Adult life moved Alex to America, and she recently returned home to Australia after the birth of her child. An injury, likely caused by the grueling training regime as an adolescent, combined with post-natal weakness, meant that Alex found herself needing treatment. In true South Australian style, where there is only 2 degrees of separation between any living person, Alex landed with old school friend Dr Ramona Chryssidis and hence became part of the Smart Health clientele.

At the recent State Surf Lifesaving Pool and Rescue Championships, Alex medaled in 8 events and is now off to Nationals next week, with the goal of World Champs next year. Great work and Good luck Alex!!!

Wouldn't it be great to be so flexible?

Perhaps, but with such great flexibility there can be other issues.

Hypermobility, or more specifically, joint hypermobility is the term used to describe those of us who have greater mobility than the “average” person. This might be someone who can bend their thumb backwards to touch their forearm, who can do back bends or the splits easily, or who may be known as being “double-jointed”.

We were very fortunate to have Pauline Slater, physiotherapist, on-hand to run through the latest in the classification of HDS, treatment approaches and how we, as clinicians, can assist in dealing with the musculoskeletal aspect of a client's symptoms. So, if you, or anyone you know, may be looking for support for the 'bendy body’, help is available.

Vale Dr Margaret Taylor
It is with much sadness that we inform you that she passed away peacefully on June 3rd.
We know that many who attend Smart Health knew Margi either personally or as her patient.
She will be greatly missed. She leaves behind an incredible legacy.
