Waking up with sharp heel pain?

If those first few steps out of bed feel like you're stepping on glass, you might be dealing with plantar fasciitis — a common cause of heel pain that can make everyday movement a real challenge.

Often triggered by overuse or long days on your feet, plantar fasciitis causes inflammation in the tissue that supports your arch, leading to that familiar stabbing pain (especially in the morning).

The team at AC Podiatry offers Shockwave Therapy. This is a non-invasive option that may help reduce pain and support healing.

📍AC Podiatry consults out of our Malvern and Magill clinics throughout the week.

Celebrating our team this August ✨

This month we’re recognising a few milestones within our team and taking a moment to say thank you to the people who help make our workplace what it is!

We began the month celebrating our Managing Director, Peter, who celebrated a special birthday! His leadership and vision continue to shape the way we work and the care we provide to our community. We are very grateful for all that he does for the Move for Better Health community and beyond!

We are also celebrating a few of our admin team members this month! From our Bayside team, Emilia is celebratrating her birthday! Thank you for all you do and we hope you’ve had a chance to celebrate! Two other members of admin are celebrating 5 years as part of the team this month also! Chloe, who you might have seen more regularly at our Magill clinic recently as well as Anne-Marie from Bayside are celebrating their work anniversaries towards the end of the month! Their support behind the scenes helps keep everything running smoothly for our clients and practitioners every day, we are so glad they continue to be part of our amazing team!

👣 Heel pain in kids? It could be Sever’s Disease.

If your child is active in sports and has started complaining about heel pain, especially after running or jumping — it might not just be growing pains.

Sever’s Disease is a common cause of heel pain in children and teens, especially during growth spurts. It’s linked to inflammation where the Achilles tendon attaches to the heel, and while it’s not serious, it can be painful and impact participation in sport and activity.

Our Podiatrists at AC Podiatry (based within Move for Better Health Magill and Malvern) can assess, diagnose and help manage this condition with tailored advice, treatment and support so your child can keep moving comfortably.

Our team recently came together for a multidisciplinary professional development session, focused on building our knowledge and skills to better support our clients.

💪 Our Exercise Physiologists explored functional strength training through the lens of Anatomy Trains Prism, followed by a small group challenge that looked at how the body’s functional lines can guide more targeted and effective exercise prescription.

🩹 Our Physiotherapists and Psychologists joined for a session with Tyson and Kate from OPC Health, learning about products commonly used to support people with EDS, POTS, hand and wrist pain, and circulation issues including braces and compression garments.

💻 In the second half of the session, our physios focused on ways to make the most of technology in practice! This included a discussion on how AI can support clinical decision-making, and how to use platforms like Physitrack and our internal systems more efficiently.

🧠 Our Psychology team also had time together for team planning, discussion and sharing ideas to strengthen the way they work with clients and each other.

We regularly invest time in learning together so we can continue to provide the best care possible

🚵‍♂️ Ever wondered how data can help shape your fitness journey?

In this blog, Scott from iNform Health & Fitness Solutions shares how using tools like a Fitness Forecaster helped him prepare for a multi-day mountain biking adventure – and how it can do the same for anyone wanting to build endurance, manage fatigue, and train smarter.

It’s a great read for anyone working toward a big goal or just wanting more insight into how their body is responding to training.

👏 Thanks to Scott and the iNform team for showing us how smart training strategies can lead to stronger, more sustainable performance.

As the month comes to a close, we’re taking a moment to celebrate some of the wonderful people who make up our team at Move for Better Health.

A big congratulations to Catherine O’Brien, who is celebrating an incredible 10 years with our physiotherapy team! Catherine’s calm and thoughtful approach, clinical expertise and dedication to her clients have been a huge part of our team’s success and we’re so grateful for everything she’s contributed over the past decade.

We also had a few birthdays to celebrate this month.
Happy Birthday to Carla, a much-loved member of our support team, whose kindness, reliability and welcoming nature make a real difference to our clients and staff every day.
We also celebrated Dani from AC Podiatry! Her organisation, professionalism and positive energy help keep things running smoothly behind the scenes, and she’s such a valued part of our team.
Katina also marked a birthday this month! She brings a wealth of experience and genuine care to her physiotherapy work, always taking the time to support her clients and colleagues with compassion and skill.
Happy birthday also to Sarah, another key member of our support team, who’s always ready to lend a hand and bring a sense of calm and care to the clinic.

We’re so lucky to have such a capable and kind-hearted team, and we’re proud to celebrate these milestones together 💙
