The Australian Podiatry Conference has officially wrapped up after a fantastic few days of learning, connecting and sharing ideas with colleagues from around the country 👣📚✨

It was a pleasure to attend alongside Ruth — always great to bring back new insights to share with our team and patients!

Growing Pains or Something More? 🤔👣

Does your child often wake up at night complaining of sore legs? Growing pains are common, but not all leg pain is normal. Here’s what to look for:

✅ Typical Growing Pains:

✔️ Occur in the evening or at night, often waking your child

✔️ Affect both legs (calves, thighs, or behind the knees). Not often reoccurring in a specific area (e.g. always in their left heel)

✔️ No swelling, redness, or limping during the day

✔️ Relieved by massage, warmth, or stretching

🚨 When to Seek Help:

⚠️ Pain during the day, during and/or after activity

⚠️ Persistent or worsening pain over time

⚠️ Swelling, redness, or tenderness

⚠️ Limping, weakness, or difficulty walking

⚠️ Pain reoccurring in a specific area (e.g. always in their left heel)

If your child’s pain doesn’t fit the “growing pains” pattern, it’s worth checking in with a podiatrist to rule out other concerns like foot posture issues, muscle imbalances, or underlying conditions.
