Dietitians are not the food police.

A misconception about dietitians is that they are simply there to tell you what to eat, and what not to eat.

are lovers of food! They know that eating is personal – our preferences are affected by what we enjoy as well as our lifestyle, our mood, culture, convenience, accessibility, lifestyle, and budget.

That’s why during Dietitians Week (21-27 March 2022), we strive to raise awareness of the many ways dietitians improve lives. Their advice is tailored to best suit their clients’ unique goals, needs and life situations.

😷 From 29 June, masks will be mandatory for all people in health care settings.

Masks are also mandatory for people providing personal care services including hairdressers, nail salons, tattoo parlours, day spas and similar businesses (it is not mandatory for clients to wear a mask).

Masks are highly recommended on public transport, taxis and rideshare.

There are exceptions to these mandatory requirements, including:
▪ people with relevant medical conditions.
▪ people under the age of 12.
▪ cases where a mask would create communications difficulties in situations where a mask will impact the provision of care.

Find out more about the requirements for mandatory face masks, including FAQs, at www.sahealth.sa.gov.au/COVIDmasks

From 12.01 am 1 December 2020, all people in health care settings must wear a single-use surgical mask (covering mouth and nose) at all times when in the physical presence of other people on the premises.

All people includes:
▪️care providers
▪️patients
▪️clients
▪️residents
▪️administrative and other staff
▪️employees
▪️visitors
▪️students
▪️contractors
▪️any other person on the premises

❗️There are exceptions for mandatory mask use in health care settings. A person is exempt where the mask will hinder the care which is being provided, there is a medical condition, communication with a person who is deaf or hard of hearing is required, the person is under 12 and the person is a live in staff member or a resident of a residential care facility.

The definition of a health care setting includes GP clinics, public and private hospitals and specialist practices (including drug and alcohol facilities), pharmacies, allied health services, dental services and Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services.

Today is International No Diet Day!

Dieting is a significant risk factor in developing an eating disorder. It’s important we take a stand and SAY NO to diets. No to society telling us we must look a certain way. No to thinking only one type of body is beautiful. No to the idea that dieting will lead to happiness. We must change the narrative. Your weight does not equal your worth! 🦋

The Federal Government yesterday introduced new Medicare item numbers to health professionals to do their work remotely in an effort to reduce the risks of spreading COVID-19 and to ensure the community can still access quality health care. This is good news, however the enforced bulk billing condition of these new item numbers means consultations will be only funded for a fraction of their usual fee, leading to a reduction in consultation times. Clients are keen to continue with their usual services remotely but the current conditions have made it difficult for this to happen.

Remove mandated bulk-billing from COVID-19 telehealth item numbers.
