Today is World Hepatitis Day, a reminder that this silent disease affects over 200,000 Australians living with chronic hepatitis B or C, many without knowing it.
Often called a "silent infection," hepatitis may show no symptoms for years, which is why regular check-ups and early testing are so important.
Common signs to watch for include:
🔘 Unexplained fatigue
🔘 Jaundice (yellowing of skin or eyes)
🔘 Abdominal pain
🔘 Dark urine or pale stools
🔘 Nausea or loss of appetite
The good news? Hepatitis is preventable, treatable, and in many cases, curable.
The team of GPs at AHA can help you:
✔ Get tested
✔ Discuss vaccination (for hepatitis A & B)
✔ Access treatment and long-term care if needed
Don’t wait for symptoms to show, early detection saves lives.
