Kids are meant to run, play, jump and explore, so when they start complaining of foot or leg pain, it’s something worth paying attention to!
Foot pain in children is common, but it’s not something they simply “grow out of.” In fact, early intervention can make a huge difference in how they move, play and develop as they get older.
During an assessment, we look at:
✅ Foot posture – flat feet, high arches, rolling in/out
✅ Gait – how they walk, run and balance
✅ Muscle strength & flexibility
✅ Growing pains vs overload
✅ Sport-related pain – Severs, shin pain, knee pain or forefoot pain
✅ Common concerns such as bunions developing early, tip-toe walking, tripping or fatigue
✅ Footwear and whether their shoes are supporting them properly
Kids often don’t have the words to describe what they’re feeling, but limping, avoiding sport, sitting out during PE, asking to be carried, or constantly complaining of “tired legs” are all signs that something may not be working quite right.
The good news? Most children’s foot issues are very treatable with simple, gentle and effective strategies like strengthening exercises, footwear changes, orthotic support where needed, and improving movement patterns, all tailored to their age and activity level.
If you’ve noticed any changes, or your child has been struggling with pain, we’re here to help them get back to happy, active play.
