Ignite Wellbeing Co Explore. Express. Transform. Using creativity to gain clarity, problem solve, plan and connect.

Founder Belinda, known as Bel is one of those people that you meet and all of a sudden you are letting it all out. She is genuine and loves hearing all about you and what makes you the person that you are – the good, the challenging, the celebratory and the real. Ignite Wellbeing Co is a place to explore, develop, challenge and dream. Its about looking at life and getting insight to adapt, change,

alter, let go, embellish, integrate, celebrate and look forward. Whether its running wellbeing programs, therapy groups, individual sessions, personal and professional development or sharing knowledge Bel loves the experientialness (is that a word?) of life and has an uncanny ability to construct meaningful and thought provoking processes. Participants can expect to have some reflection time, personal insights and time to discover something about themselves and their situation. The Ignite wellbeing Co experience is all about finding real ways to work through this thing called life – the action of creating (and destructing or changing) helps you find solutions, have different perspectives and discover a little something. I have never been described like this before.

In Friday's mental health and wellbeing workshop for small and family business owners, we did a quick reflection using symbols to look at the overall wellbeing of the business.

It was a great day with some open conversations around the table in how things were going. One organisation is supporting their staff with many different tools and strategies and have still been experiencing some challenges with sickness and commitment.

During the reflection they represented their team as being fixed and they would like them to be able to come out of the fences and work toward a common purpose. Then along came a ‘unicorn’ (and laughed that it was me) to get fresh eyes, educate and get a sense of what is happening so that they can continue to shift and support.

While I wouldn’t necessarily describe myself as a magical unicorn, I think there are some practicalities that can identified from an outside perspective. There may be some solutions that cant be seen when you are in it – ultimately I will consult with curiosity and look at potential actions that will help with wellbeing, the structure, systems, processes and ensuring that the shared purpose is lived.

Running a business has so many elements to it and the team culture, mental health and wellbeing is a huge part of it. I am so pleased to partner with Office for Small and Family Business to deliver this program so that business owners and leaders can spend time on their own wellbeing and mental health for their business.

Please let me know if you need a unicorn to see with fresh eyes so that we can some up with some ideas to improve culture, engagement and wellbeing.

And please join us on the 26th of July for a half day workshop to navigate stress, overwhelm and the mental load. You can book via this link https://events.humanitix.com/mental-health-and-wellbeing-mastermind-for-small-and-family-business-session-2-6

When I saw this it reminded me of a colleague who would very upset for me when ever this happened.

They would always comment don't they know your full name is Belinda so it's B-E-L. It doesn't have a big impact on my world whether my name gets spelled correctly or not, and it was quite nice that she cared so much about me being properly acknowledged.

I often get called Mel or Bec - a colleague and I at CanTeen would answer to each other's name on camps, and this got me wondering what interesting spelling or names you get called, even though it's not your actual name. I would love to hear your stories.

This made me smile as it reminded me of this person and I was always curious as why it pushed a button.

Whether it's Bel, Bell, Belle, Mel or Bec or some other random name, I am looking forward to being on the Limestone coast to share and support the incredible work that the Su***de Prevention Networks are doing for the community.

Please come and say Hi in Millicent on the 14th of June.

A fabulous night celebrating 25 years of Leaders Institute of South Australia and Governors Leadership Foundation. Wonderful to connect with so many people leading the way and hear about the impact of the program. Congrats to Cathie Brown and team for a great event and for continuing to have an impact on the way that people reflect, lead and develop.

There are moments in life where you need some clarity and the creative process can certainly help.

This may look like a mess to some, but this was life changing for me.

Back when I was making the decision to sell my business, I was torn between the loyalty to my team, and pursuing my dreams and vision to sell and semi-retire so I could spend more time with my family and pursue my coaching career. My head was in a mess.

We had an art therapist in Tammy’s Table at the time, so I decided to open my mind to the possibility of getting clarity in a way that was completely different to what I would normally do.

This picture shows the result from my session.

In the centre is an island with me and my team in it and the red lines reflect me wanting to get off the island so I could spend more time in other areas of my life.

Bel (the art therapist) counselled me through the session and asked many questions while I created this. I couldn’t believe how much better I felt after the session.

The very next day I called a meeting with my manager and let her know of my plans to sell. She was incredibly supportive and understanding, and helped me navigate how I was going to tell the rest of the team. The rest is history.

The moral of this post is to be open to trying new ways to clear your head and move forward. You have to find what works for you. Whether it’s a coach, a therapist, a friend, or a creative outlet. We are so lucky to have so much available to us to try.

Art therapy helped me close a chapter and I’m so glad I opened my mind enough to give it a go. I wouldn’t hesitate to do it again if needed. 🧡

(If you’d like to try art therapy, don’t hesitate to reach out. I have some wonderful contacts).

I love this photo as it represents so much. If you were part of a garden what would you be? There were flowers, hoses, soil, bird paths, watering cans, blood and bone, tools, birds, bees....

On Tuesday, it was like returning to where it all began... but different.

Little did I know all those years ago that when Mum got me to help her at work that I would meet some incredible teachers in life (including the students) and that my career would take a different path.

I left that school 11 years later and it was a place of immense personal and professional growth, where the seeds were safely planted to create, connect, expand and find my place in the world.

The first day back at school used to involve locker allocations and now I was facilitating at Pulteney Grammar School for staff to reflect on their values and how they will prosper in 2024.

Not only did we have a session where they looked attheir ball pit of life and considered how yo juggle all the balls, staff embraced the values of the school and created space for themselves in the garden of prosperity.

What a fabulous day facilitating a staff retreat day along with Jed Altschwager, Gary Edwards CSP - Speak With Influence, Amanda Goodfellow and Annie Harvey. Resilience, communication, meditation, laughter along with some creative expression and 'growing' together made for a valuable day.

Thank you to Kate Russell and The Huddle for bringing us all together and Deb Dalwood for welcoming us so warmly and providing a space for your staff to start the year with some connection, optimism and tools to take into 2024.
