I’m Alana, the lab manager at FertilitySA and a passionate embryologist.

I am privileged to get to play a role in helping patients in their journey to creating a family and am always looking for ways that we can build on the work that we do in the lab.

I feel so lucky to work with a talented and compassionate embryology group and the incredible science behind what we do every day still amazes me.

👋 MEET THE TEAM - Brooke Calo our Senior Counsellor

“I’m Brooke and am a clinical social worker by training. After working in women’s health for 17 years in the public sector, I made the move to work in fertility care 4 years ago.

I work from the perspective that recognises people are the experts in their own lives and therapeutic spaces should be safe, welcoming, and guided by evidence and best practice.

Fertility treatment is not something anyone chooses to do and its not something that anyone generally envisages they will need to do so creating space for people to access support related to the myriad of emotions that fertility treatment brings is so vital. As is acknowledging the distress of sitting in the unknown and uncontrollable that is fertility treatment.

I am a passionate advocate in the area of Reproductive Health and Justice and I am committed to ensuring people’s physical and emotional safety in medical/clinical settings.”

World IVF Day is officially celebrated on July 25th but we’re starting the party early. 🎉

July 25 marks the birthday of Louise Joy Brown, the world’s first IVF baby, born in 1978. It was a groundbreaking moment in fertility care, and it’s why we celebrate this day each year.
