NOURISH YOUR BODY WITH PRE-BIOTICS

Pre-biotics fuel probiotics (the good guys)! Pre-biotics refer to natural soluble fibres that feed the good bacteria in our large intestine, helping to promote balanced gut flora and healthy bowel function. When our good bacteria eat prebiotic fibre, they produce beneficial short-chain fatty acids, such as butyrate, which inhibits the growth of disease-causing pathogens and maintains the health of our intestinal lining.

Rich sources of prebiotics are found in a variety of plant-based foods including; green leafy vegetables, citrus, leeks, flaxseed, apples and our ZERO Noodles and our ZERO Glucomannan Fibre.

HEALTH BENEFITS OF ZERO NOODLES

Noodles, Pasta or Rice with just a few calories per serving may sound too good to be true. But a serving of ZERO Noodles contains about the same number of calories as a cup of broth or a handful of arugula. ZERO Noodles are made from a substance called glucomannan that comes from the konjac root. Glucomannan is a soluble fibre that absorbs a lot of water. Noodles made from glucomannan flour are actually about 3% fibre and 97% water, so it's easy to see why they are low in calories.

Konjac is native to eastern Asia. The plant itself goes by several names, including snake plant and voodoo lily. It bears a distinctive flower that smells like carrion. Glucomannan flour comes from the root of the plant, which can reach a size of up to 50 pounds. Konjac flour also serves as a thickening agent for food.

Unlike some healthy foods, ZERO Noodles do not contain a wide range of nutrients but they still offer some health benefits:

WEIGHT MANAGEMENT - Although there are no studies specifically targeting ZERO Noodles, high-fibre foods are helpful when it comes to weight control. Because fibre is filling, you may feel satisfied longer and eat less. Those on a ketogenic diet may enjoy ZERO Noodles as a replacement for high-carb food. An investigation of glucomannan, the flour used in ZERO Noodles, found that it helped with weight management. The best results, however, came from combining glucomannan with a healthy diet and exercise.

DIABETES CONTROL - The soluble fibre in ZERO Noodles can slow down the rate at which the body absorbs carbohydrates. This can help people with diabetes avoid blood sugar spikes. Studies have shown that glucomannan, the konjac flour in shirataki noodles, helps those with diabetes. People with diabetes should talk to their doctor before using glucomannan, as it could affect their medication.

COLON HEALTH - Fibre in the diet contributes to good health by reducing constipation. It improves general bowel function, which reduces your risk of haemorrhoids, diverticulitis, and colorectal cancer. The fibre in ZERO Noodles is soluble fibre, which acts as a prebiotic, promoting the growth of healthy bacteria in the colon.

NUTRITION - Because ZERO Noodles are just fibre and water, they do not contain any vitamins or minerals. They do, however, have some food value: 100 grams of ZERO Noodles contains: Calories: 5 Protein: 1 gram Fat: 0.5 gram Carbohydrates: 1 gram Fibre: 6 grams Sugar: 0.5 grams

THINGS TO WATCH OUT FOR - If you are unused to consuming a lot of fibre, you may experience some gas, bloating, or loose stool after you eat ZERO Noodles,. Usually, as you transition to a higher fibre regimen, these symptoms will improve.
HOW TO PREPARE ZERO NOODLES - ZERO Noodles, come in four shapes, such as noodles, fettuccine, rice and lasagne style.
Drain the water and rinse them well. After draining the noodles, some cooks like to dry roast them in the pan to remove some of the water content and firm them up.

Because ZERO Noodles, have little nutritional value, it's important to pair them with other ingredients that pack a nutrient-dense punch. You can substitute them for pasta in almost any recipe. They work well in Asian and Italian recipes. Here are some ideas to try:

Serve them curry, instead of rice for a lower-calorie dish.
Use them in classic miso soup.
Serve them with puttanesca sauce.
Make a cold pasta salad with veggies, noodles, and your favourite dressing.
Use them in a healthy bowl with shredded carrots, red bell peppers, and edamame.
Substitute them for the rice noodles normally used in Pho.

INGREDIENTS

🔹2 packs ZERO Noodles
Get these from 👉www.ZeroNoodles.com.au

🔹2tsp Ghee or Butter
🔹2 large Eggs
🔹2 pinches Himalayan Pink Salt
🔹1 Tb Avocado Oil (or cooking oil of choice)
🔹2 clove Garlic, minced
🔹40g Red Capsicum, chopped into medium dice
🔹50g Broccoli, chopped into small pieces
🔹60g Cherry Tomatoes, halved or quartered
🔹20g Spring Onions, 2cm slices
🔹8tsp Tamari (or Light Soy Sauce)
🔹2tsp Sesame Oil
🔹200g Cooked Chicken (optional)

METHOD

Crack the egg into a small bowl and add a pinch of Himalayan pink salt. Use a fork to whisk the egg yolk and whites together.
Then place the ghee in a medium sized non-stick frying pan and place on stove over low heat.

Pour the egg mixture into the pan and scramble until just cooked then remove from the pan and set aside.
Wipe the pan out and set aside till ready to use again.

Place the already rinsed ZERO Rice to a medium sized non-stick frying pan and dry-fry (no oil) the rice over low heat for approximately 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

After 5 minutes of dry-frying, add the avocado oil and mix in, then add the broccoli, capsicum, garlic, tamari/soy sauce and chicken (if using) to the konjac rice and continue to pan-fry over low to medium heat, mixing the added ingredients through the rice.

After 2 minutes of pan-frying, add the scrambled eggs, cherry tomatoes, spring onions (reserving a few spring onion pieces for garnishing) and sesame oil to the rice mixture. Mix these through gently and pan-fry a further minute until the eggs and tomatoes are warmed through.

Transfer to a serving bowl and garnish with your reserved spring onion pieces, finely shredded). Enjoy as a side dish with your main meal or eat as a light meal in itself.

Tips - Slicing the broccoli into small pieces assists in its even cooking time in relation to the other ingredients.
You can omit the chicken to make the dish vegetarian or you can substitute it for other protein sources such as prawns or pork belly slices.
This reheats well the next day for an easy lunch.

DO YOU KNOW THAT ZERO NOODLES COULD HELP DIABETES?
Research suggests that consuming a mix of glucomannan and American ginseng can lead to a moderate improvement in the management of type 2 diabetes.

One 2015 review also found that glucomannan made people with diabetes less likely to eat foods that could increase their blood sugar levels. This is because it made them feel fuller for longer.

ZERO GLUCOMANNAN - A MIRACLE VEGETABLE FIBRE
Glucomannan is a type of fibre found in the roots of the elephant yam, also called konjac.

How it works: Glucomannan absorbs water and becomes gel-like. It "sits" in your gut and promotes a feeling of fullness, helping you eat fewer calories.

Effectiveness: Three human studies showed that glucomannan, combined with a healthy diet, can help people lose 8-10 pounds (3.6-4.5 kg) of weight in 5 weeks.

Other benefits: Glucomannan is a fibre that can feed the friendly bacteria in the intestine. It can also lower blood sugar, blood cholesterol and triglycerides, and is very effective against constipation.

Side effects: It can interfere with some oral medications if taken at the same time. Take away from meds.

Dosage: 1/4 teaspoon of glucomannan about a half an hour before meals, with a glass of water.

Where to buy: If you would like to try it, we have a great organic version, created by Australian Naturopath.... Check it out at www.ZeroNoodles.com.au
