"When our 1yr-old was at Cincinatti Childrens Hospital, they had these I.V. House site covers for him. It made our stay so much better. We could see the site and it was protected and secure without fail.
In our many emergencies stays at the University of Kentucky Children's Hospital they did not have these available, though the nurses really wanted them! The nurses had to repeatedly jerry-rigging a mess of tape and gauze. These invariably failed, sometimes kinking the line and making alarms go off, sometimes the site came out and put the fluid under his skin, and other times it came out completely, and he bled everywhere. This was a BIG problem, because our son is so hard to get an IV into and it usually takes ultrasound and several attempts to get him restuck. It's awful.
The I.V. House site covers are awesome, easy to use, and should be standard in every hospital for kids and infants!
I.V. House is sending us some to put in our hospital grab bag so that our son will be well cared for even if the hospital won't supply them.
