This Road Safety Week is a great time for a few reminders of the rules that help keep you and your passengers safe on the road!

Here's a roundabout refresh to remember!

β€’ Signal clearly: Use your indicators to show where you're going πŸ’‘
β€’ Give way: Yield to traffic already in the roundabout ⬅️
β€’ Signal left to exit: Indicate left before leaving the roundabout πŸ”„
β€’ Keep left of the central island and watch for pedestrians and cyclists πŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈπŸš΄β€β™€οΈ

What road rule reminder do you want to see next?

πŸ‘€ An un-koalaified road user was spotted entering the Heysen Tunnels in the early hours of this morning. 🐨

Safety measures in the tunnels, which recently underwent a major upgrade, alerted our Traffic Management Centre team who acted quickly - closing the lane and reducing the speed limit to 40km/h to protect everyone - while the koala made its way back to safety. πŸ’š

The freeway tunnels are equipped with an Intelligent Transport System, including thermal incident detection systems, CCTV, lane use management signs and variable message signage, which help to keep motorists (and wandering wildlife) safe!

It’s nearly time to bring back the magic πŸͺ„ of

ELF ON THE SHELF

According to the official Elf on the Shelf website, Scout Elf Return Week is the official start of the Elf on the Shelf season and runs from December 1: This is also known as Scout Elf Return week, a.k.a. the time when Santa's little helpers flee the North Pole and head out to the houses they'll be staying at until Christmas.

Here are some other things to know about the Elf on the Shelf tradition:

What they do: Each night, the elves fly back to the North Pole to tell Santa about the children's activities and behavior. (Don’t forget he returns home every night)

How they interact with children: Children can talk to their elves, but the elves can only listen and never speak to humans.

Who can touch them: Only parents are allowed to touch the elves, or they'll lose their magic.

When they leave: All elves must leave on Christmas Eve to return to the North Pole.
