Exciting Announcement: 📣
TAIHS SEWB have partnered with the Melbourne International Comedy Festival

We are thrilled to share that we have teamed up with the Melbourne International Comedy Festival to discover the next Deadly Funny Aunty, Uncle, Brotha or Sista! 😆

For the past two decades, Deadly Funny has highlighted the most vibrant and humorous First Nations talent from all around the country.

This opportunity is open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders aged 18 and over. Participation is completely free and includes a two-hour workshop with an experienced comedian to help you refine your ideas before showcasing your talent on stage.

Why Get Involved? 🤔

You might win a trip to the Melbourne International Comedy Festival to perform at the National Grand Final, where you could compete for a substantial cash prize of $3,000! 💵

Throughout the years, Deadly Funny has launched the careers of many renowned First Nations comedians, including:

Getting ready for the new school year doesn’t have to be expensive 📚✏️

Our School Savvy pop-up shops are back, offering affordable back-to-school supplies to help ease the cost for families. All families are welcome to come along and purchase pre-loved uniforms and essential school items priced between $1-$5*!

🛍️ Pop-up shop dates:
👉 Monday 19th Jan - Friday 23rd Jan

Light refreshments will be available while you browse, and our friendly team will be there to help.
Every purchase supports the program, with funds going straight back into providing more school supplies for local families.

Come along, grab a bargain, and help your child start the school year feeling confident and ready to learn 💙

In the lead up to Sexual Violence Awareness Month in October, Townsville Sexual Assault Support Service at The Women's Centre will be running art workshops alongside many other sexual assault support services across the state with survivors and allies to honour the voices of survivors and raise awareness of sexual violence across Queensland.

Together we can... is the theme of the workshops, and we want to invite all women to join us in creating a collaborative art piece that raises the voices of survivor's and shows that together we can...

Join us at The Women's Centre alongside sister services, DVNQ and Sera's Women's Shelter, tomorrow afternoon from 5:15pm to remember and honor those who have died as a result of domestic and family violence.
