Why is it that we ignore the signals that our body gives us that we need rest…but not the signals for hunger, thirst or bathroom signals?? (Or perhaps these too)
This is all part of the ‘To Do’ list trap that caught me in 2025.
The world we live in sucks us into the idea that rest is a reward reserved for when the list is finished!
If I could choose a mantra for 2026 it would be “rest is a requirement. Not a reward”.
It’s not about shying away from hard work and avoiding challenging things. It’s about proactive maintenance.
I was at a point last year where the never ending and expanding to do list would not leave my mind! It was torture. Sleep?? What was this!
All self inflicted! I had a long list of horror stories of what might happen if I stopped and took a breath.
With my word of this year ‘FOCUS’… I am keeping the focus on rest.
Both my own AND yours!
Because nothing else works if we don’t!
Just like our phones need charging every night to work… so to do we!
My ‘why’ for what I do has suddenly become even stronger!
This little escape has reminded me just how powerful a RESET that REST is.
Big things are happening for JMHW and you are at the forefront!
