Yoga is honestly the most incredible gift you can give yourself.
These six reasons are often why people don’t feel drawn to practice yoga, well if it’s you the stop the scroll you need to hear what I have to say.
You don’t need to come with any improved flexibility and strength, you start where you are and we use props to get you into pose. A well trained yoga teacher knows how to read your body and what it needs.
Yoga was never designed for a work out, it’s a work in. It gives you energy rather than depletes it. It works more functionally than any other exercise I know because it works on every single joint in body externally from hands to feet, head to pelvis, up, down, left, right, back, front and side. It works on every system internally: skeletal, muscular, cardiovascular, endocrine, nervous, respiratory, digestion etc
Yoga actually means to “yoke” or unify and this is why it’s called a a mind body connection practice. It is designed to find harmony between the two so you can purify the imbalances of your existence in your body.
If it’s boring that’s really telling sign you need it, your mind is racing for more doing rather than being, yoga asks you to be fully present with your monkey mind, and over time you can learn to laugh at it.
While Yoga originated as spiritual discipline it’s not religious and is actually based on 4,000 years of living and learning the science of living akin to what western people might understand as metaphysics.
Lastly yoga is a form of resistant strength training. We don’t use weights or machines but our own body weight. We hold poses eccentrically lowering against gravity, isometrically as long holds, we invert the body to reverse effects of gravity and dynamically flow between poses to build endurance and strength.
