Changes for Centrelink Carers Payment

Services Australia has revealed that the Carers Payment is set to undergo a significant change from next month.
The Centrelink subsidy is delivered to tens of thousands of Australians who are providing constant care for someone for at least six months.
At the moment, a recipient on this payment is only allowed to work or study for up to 25 hours every week. But the government body is amending this allowance to permit a recipient to work up to 100 hours over four weeks, with the change set to kick in on March 20.
"If you sometimes work more than 100 hours, you’ll still be able to use respite days so you can keep your payment. The 2024-25 federal budget had $18.6 million allocated to this change, which will be rolled out over five years.

It sounds like Cos Disability & Community Services is an organization dedicated to supporting individuals with disabilities in the New England region. With 30 years of lived experience and a background as a former NDIS LAC (Local Area Coordinator), the CEO brings valuable knowledge of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which helps guide individuals in achieving their goals.

Here's a more detailed look at what the organization might offer:

1. Expertise in NDIS:
The CEO's firsthand experience with the NDIS system provides insight into navigating its complexities, ensuring clients receive the support they need for successful plan outcomes.
Positive plan outcomes are central, meaning the organization focuses on making sure each client’s NDIS plan aligns with their goals, providing the necessary support and services.
2. Client-Centric Approach:
The company likely emphasizes personalized care and tailored services to ensure each client’s specific needs are met.
The focus is on empowering clients, enabling them to achieve their goals whether they relate to daily living, independence, community involvement, or employment.
3. Services Provided:
Disability support services such as personal care, therapy, and coordination of supports.
Help with NDIS plan management and support coordination to ensure clients get the most out of their funding.
Assistance with community participation, helping clients access activities and services in the community to improve social connections and inclusion.
4. Community Impact:
With a strong presence in the New England region, the organization has deep local ties, which helps build trust and understanding within the community.
They likely also play an advocacy role, raising awareness about disability services and pushing for positive change within local communities.
5. Focus on Empowerment:
Their goal is not only to provide services but to ensure clients are equipped with the tools and knowledge to lead fulfilling, independent lives.
They likely offer ongoing support and education to both clients and their families to navigate the NDIS.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT SERVICES AGREEMENTS.....

If you don't have a service agreement in place with a provider, why not? You might like to ask these questions.
1. Do you know what they will charge in each situation.
2. Do you know costs associated with transportation, travelling to a shift.
3. Do you know their late cancellation policy?
4. Do you know their service cancellation policy?
5. Do you know on what grounds they will terminate the agreement?
6. Do you know their complaints policy? (a requirement for all providers)
7. Do you know their incident management policy?
8. Have you passed on key information surrounding supports such as emergency contact information?
Apart ensuring that you and the provider are on the same page, it is an excellent opportunity to review their service, and ask crucial questions around their values, their business structure, and how they deal with leave, sick days, sick children.

What all NDIS providers should know including independent providers.

Did you know the ATO requires you to have a "written agreement between you and the NDIS participant" in order for supports to be GST Free... Might be another good reason to make sure you have a service agreement in place.
"GST-free NDIS supplies
A supply to a NDIS participant is GST-free if all the following requirements are met:
the NDIS participant has a NDIS plan in effect
the supply is of reasonable and necessary supports that are specified in the statement of supports in the participant's NDIS plan
there is a written agreement between you and the NDIS participant (or another person)
it is a supply covered by one of the tables in the A New Tax System (Goods and Services Tax) (GST free Supply—National Disability Insurance Scheme Supports) Determination 2021External Link (NDIS Determination).
The explanatory statement to the NDIS Determination External Link provides examples to assist participants with the types of supplies listed in the NDIS Determination"
