I went on an adventure on the weekend. I went away to FEAST - Festival of Embodiment and Secsual Transformation. I have returned, feeling so much more in my body and connected to myself. I am moving slower with more purpose, and can hear the whispers of my body louder, 'I want a drink of water, I'm hungry, I just need some rest'.
This year my intention was connection back into community with peers, colleagues, teachers, coaches, old friends and new friends.
I felt that I got what I needed from the experience. One thing I have noticed after nearly 10 years of being in these spaces is that the triggers and charge is almost gone. It felt almost boring.
I used to go to these events for the high. They were peak experiences that had my nervous system responding wildly. It felt great. I felt alive, addicted, loved the rush.
A long way from boring.
Some may think "oh how sad that it was boring for you", but I see this is a great sign.
In boring moments, there is stillness, reflection, calm. There is warmth, flow and subtle movement. There is information, sensation and feedback in my body.
Instead of sitting with judgement, I feel intrigue, curiosity and wonder.
What can come from this?
The FEAST festival is the first of this kind, unique in that it is run, held and facilitated by Somatic S.x Educators/S.xological Bodyworkers who all have a great framework of how to work with the body's nervous system in a truly supportive and respectful way.
They hold this event each year in May. I highly recommend you check it out and I may see you there next year.
Also if you want to experience a couple of beautiful somatic practices I experienced at FEAST, come along to the June Womens Gathering this Thursday evening, 5th June. (Link in comments)
