What a morning. There is not a person or a sound other than what should be here... the lapping of waves, the sound of insects chirping, and little wag tail birds in the tea trees . Time for me to rest, rejuvenate, swim and do my yoga . Blissful!

It's going to be 36 degrees C today. But this garden :
💚 is at least 10 degrees cooler
💚 provides a play space or relaxing oasis
💚 provides fresh water for birds
💚 provides habitat (native trees & shrubs) for wildlife and my doggie.
💚 helps create a microclimate to minimise the impacts of climate change like severe weather

LOVE YOUR GARDEN or make one!
It's easy and you will have an oasis at your door.
Don't worry if you don't have much space , potted plant gardens are incredible, too.

Melbourne put on its finest weather for the Discover Sailing Day at . A wonderful experience for the community to visit the club and learn about sailing. My girls had a ball. Well done!!! ❤️⛵️❤️⛵️❤️⛵️❤️

It is day 3 of the heat wave in Melbourne. It's nice to know our habitat garden is working well to provide fresh water, food and shelter during challenging weather. This little native noisy mynah bird (shown here) and other native birds have been hanging out at our bird bath pretty much all day today. The mynahs usually chase off other birds, but it's nice to see sharing when the heat is this bad.
As a reminder please leave fresh water and shelter out for animals ( native and your pets) in hot weather. And when designing gardens think about planting native trees for food sources, shelter, shade which we humans also benefit from.

I received this card for mothers day in 2019 just after giving birth to my second daughter. At the time I had a shih tsu Ruby who was very sick and we were so worried that she was not going to live much longer. It only occurred to me today that the dog in the card looks very much like our current doggie which we got much later in 2022. Maybe there was something more to this card than a dog with bed hair, not to mention eating breakfast in bed from a tray. ❤️🐶❤️
