🎒 Back to School = Back to Routines ✨

Getting back into school mode can feel tricky after a holiday break! A smooth routine helps kids feel calm, confident, and ready to learn. Here are a few simple tips to make the transition easier:

Tip 1 – Make Mornings Easy ⏰
Break the morning into simple steps—making the bed, brushing teeth, getting dressed, and packing the backpack. A fun checklist or a morning song can make the routine feel exciting instead of stressful.

Tip 2 – Pack Smart & Fun Lunches 🥪🍎
Lunchboxes don’t have to be complicated! Involve your child in packing their lunch, letting them choose from healthy options. Include a mix of protein, fruits, veggies, and a small treat to make lunchtime something they look forward to.

Tip 3 – Create an After-School Calm-Down 🧘‍♀️📖
After a busy day, children often need a little decompression time. Set aside 20–30 minutes for quiet activities like reading, coloring, or a cozy chill-out corner. This helps them reset before homework or playtime.

Tip 4 – Keep It Consistent, but Flexible 💛
Routines are important, but don’t stress if some days don’t go perfectly. A consistent routine with a little flexibility teaches resilience and helps the whole family feel more balanced.

Routines aren’t just about tasks—they’re about building independence, confidence, and calm habits that set kids up for success! 🌟

School holidays don’t mean pausing your child’s communication growth — in fact, they’re the perfect time to build language naturally 💛

Here are 3 speech-boosting activities that don’t require worksheets, pressure, or structured lessons:

1️⃣ Join their play and add language to what they’re already doing
2️⃣ Use everyday routines as “speech scaffolding moments”
3️⃣ Read together and turn it into a shared experience — not a test

Remember: progress doesn’t come from perfection…
It comes from connection, repetition, and FUN. 🌟

✨ Progress is progress — no matter what it looks like.
In therapy, growth doesn’t always come in big leaps.

Sometimes it’s a small shift in perspective, a calmer moment, or a connection that feels a little stronger than before.

Every family’s journey looks different — and that’s exactly how it should be 💛

💬 We would love to hear from you — what’s something you’ve learnt from therapy this year?

When a child shuts down, it’s not about being stubborn or disrespectful — it’s their nervous system saying, “I’m overwhelmed.”

💛 In those moments, our goal isn’t to make them talk — it’s to help them feel safe again.

Here are 3 simple things to try when that happens:
1️⃣ Lower your voice and slow your pace. Your calm tone helps regulate their system.
2️⃣ Give space and time. Silence or gentle presence can be more powerful than words.
3️⃣ Offer a bridge back to connection. This could be through a toy, drawing, a walk, or sitting side by side.

Remember: Connection comes before correction, and regulation comes before communication.

✨ Sometimes the best thing you can say is nothing — just be there.

👻 Spooky Fun + Speech Goals! 🕸️✨

Halloween is the perfect time to sneak language and communication into play! Here are some fun, spooky games that boost speech skills while keeping kids engaged 🎃👇

🧙‍♀️ 1️⃣ Mystery Bag: Reach in and describe what you feel — “It’s sticky and stretchy!” (Great for describing words + inferencing)

🧪 2️⃣ Potion Mixing Lab: “First pour the green slime, then add two spider legs!” (Perfect for sequencing + following directions)

🕷️ 3️⃣ Scavenger Hunt: “Find something that flies at night!” (Targets vocabulary + comprehension)

✨ Language grows best through play — and these games make it magical 🧡

🗣️ Which spooky game will you try first?

Costumes are more than just dress-up — they’re full of language opportunities! ✨
When children step into a new character, they use imagination, storytelling, and social communication. They describe, pretend, and connect — all powerful language skills in action.
💭 I’d love to hear from you — what’s your child’s favourite costume or character to dress up as? Comment below and share their creative ideas! 👇
