Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is an advanced treatment used to manage Dry Eye Disease, especially when it’s linked to meibomian gland dysfunction.
How does IPL work?
Gentle pulses of light are applied to the skin around the eyes. This helps:
💫 Reduce inflammation
💫 Improve oil flow from the meibomian glands
💫 Support a healthier tear film
The benefits:
✔️ Long-lasting relief from dry, gritty or burning eyes
✔️ Improved tear quality (not just more drops!)
✔️ Reduced redness and irritation
✔️ Can lessen reliance on artificial tears
What to expect during a session:
• Treatment is quick (around 15–20 minutes)
• Protective eye shields are worn
• You may feel a warm snapping sensation - most people find it very comfortable
• No downtime - you can get straight back to your day
IPL is usually done as a series of 4 treatments every 2 weeks for best results, with many patients noticing improvements after the first few sessions.
