The purpose of a massage post C-Section is to break down the scar tissue adhesions 🌼 and to provide stimulus and input to the areas with altered or reduced sensation. As few techniques that you can use (in order of the video):

1. Circular massage ; apply firm pressure. This might feel quite tender in the beginning but it will get more comfortable with time πŸ₯°

2. Rolling : pinch the muscle, keep your thumbs πŸ‘πŸ» together and walk the fingers along and across the scar.

3. Kneading : pick up the muscle 🌻 and knead it between your fingers and thumb

*Ensure incision is healed and sealed.
**Always perform massage with a small amount of oil or cream.

Oestrogen is a hormone that is responsible for the development and regulation of the female πŸ’ƒ s*xual and reproductive health system. The two main periods where oestrogen levels drop are during the post-natal period (especially whilst breastfeeding🀱) and during the perimenopause and menopausal stages.

Topical vaginal oestrogen can be prescribed as a pessary (to be inserted) or as a cream (to be applied). This helps with improving health of the vaginal tissues, and promotes healthy pelvic floor muscle tone.

2024 was the year of growth and being comfortable with the unfamiliar. Pain in your jaw can happen for many reasons such as stress, grinding your teeth in your sleep, πŸ›Œ inflammation of the muscles around your jaw and tight neck muscles. Severe jaw pain can affect the range of motion in your neck, limit your ability to eat πŸ— and speak πŸ—£ and can sometimes result in headaches. πŸ€•

Release of the external and internal muscles of the jaw and neck muscles, heat packs, jaw relaxation position and dry needling are some of the techniques that can help with relieving your painπŸ’₯ and getting your range of motion back.

Perineal massage is a manual technique used to stretch the perineum and promote relaxation during childbirth πŸ‘Ά. During birth, the muscles of your pelvic floor will need to stretch up to 2-3 times its normal length. Since we are not able to stretch out the muscles to that degree, we aim to get familiar with the uncomfortable sensation and practice relaxation through the pressure/burning/stinging.

Perineal massage should NOT be performed if you have a low-lying placenta (placenta previa), or vaginal herpes or thrush.

Start by lying in a relaxed position ie. lying πŸ›Œ with your top half propped up with pillows or in the bathtub πŸ› with your legs in a "butterfly" πŸ¦‹ position. You can perform the massage with your own thumb πŸ‘πŸ», a device, or have your partner help.

Imagine the vaginal opening like the face of the clock ⏰️, with 12 o'clock being your p***c bone. The focus of the perineal massage will be from 3 o'clock to 9 o'clock.

-Start by inserting either finger or device about 3 cms into the vaginal opening starting from one side, and working your way to the other side.

-Apply mild pressure throughout this region while searching for any areas of tenderness, tightness, or discomfort. If you find any particular areas of discomfort, try to practice deep breathing πŸ’†β€β™€οΈ and relaxing your pelvic floor before moving on to the next area.

-Once you get more comfortable 🌸, you can begin to apply sweeping motion while maintaining pressure from the 3 o’clock to 9 o’clock region of the vaginal opening.

-Another option is to insert two thumbs and perform an outward sweeping motion on both sides simultaneously. 🌼
