👋 Meet Kyle – Psychologist at Mind Life Clinic 👋
Kyle Wilson is a psychologist who brings honesty, heart, and humour to his work. He’s all about making therapy approachable, especially for young people and men who might feel unsure about getting started.
🧠 Why Psychology?
Kyle was drawn to the field after seeing the struggles—his own and those of friends—with mental health during his teenage years, and noticing just how few supports were available at the time.
👦 Who He Works With
Kyle works with people across the lifespan, but has a real passion for:
• Early intervention with kids and teens
• Helping men feel comfortable and supported as they enter therapy
💬 His Approach
"Tools and skills are great to learn, but helping someone become aware of their friction points—and still do the stuff in life that’s important to them—can be just as, if not more, helpful in the long run."
🤝 What You’ll Experience in Therapy with Kyle
A sense of being heard, understood, and never judged.
💡 What He Wishes More People Knew
That therapy doesn’t have to be something you only seek out in crisis. “It can benefit our lives even when things are going great overall.”
👨‍👧‍👦 Outside the Clinic
I’m the proud, loving father of two wonderful children who sometimes cause me to question my own sanity.
💬 A Quote That Sticks
“The good life is a process, not a state of being. It is a direction not a destination.” – Carl Rogers
We’re so lucky to have Kyle on the Mind Life team — compassionate, down to earth, and passionate about making mental health support more accessible and human.

🧠 Mental Health Myth-Busting Tuesday
Myth: “If I go to therapy, it means I’m weak.”

Truth: Seeking therapy is a sign of strength — not weakness.

It takes courage to acknowledge you're struggling and to take active steps toward change. Therapy isn’t just for “serious problems” — it’s a safe space to process life, build resilience, and gain clarity.

Mental health is just as important as physical health — and taking care of it is something to be proud of.

✨ You don’t have to wait for a crisis to reach out. Support is here when you're ready.

🌿 Meet Kate Mathews – Psychologist at Mind Life Clinic 🌿
Kate has been a much-loved part of the Mind Life team for several years. Although she has since relocated too far from the clinic to attend regularly in person, she still visits a few times a year! Kate now works remotely via telehealth, offering both video and phone sessions. She brings a deep passion for evidence-based therapy and meaningful, compassionate connection.
🧠 Why Psychology?
Kate has always been fascinated by the power of words and being truly listened to – and how this, alongside practical strategies, can bring about real and lasting change. From her first psychology lecture, she was completely hooked, and that passion has stayed with her ever since.
💬 Areas of Interest
Kate supports clients across a wide range of areas including:
• Depression, anxiety, OCD & mood disorders
• Stress, life transitions & interpersonal dynamics
• PTSD, cPTSD & neurodivergence (ASD, ADHD, AuDHD)
• Functional neurological disorders (PPPD, FND)
She enjoys working with clients who want practical tools and deeper insight into the “why” behind their mental health experiences.
💡 Her Approach
Kate’s therapy approaches differ depending on what works best for my clients and their individual needs. She draws on CBT, ACT, DBT, EMDR, and has a growing interest in IFS (Internal Family Systems) therapy.
🌱 What She Hopes Clients Feel
It is Kate’s hope and intention that her clients feel personally understood and supported at an individual level, with a growing sense of hope and empowerment to make positive changes to management and recovery from a range of challenges affecting their mental health.
💭 What She Wishes More People Knew
Over the past decades Kate has seen broader societal changes that have helped raise awareness of mental health issues and effective treatments – but she does wish more people knew that these treatments are available, especially making use of telehealth options to suit varying life, work, and mobility factors; and that things really can get better.
🌿 Outside the Clinic
Kate’s a tea-drinker (by the bucket!) who loves trail running, mountain biking, music, the snow, and spending time with her family and friends. You’ll often find her deep in a garden project or off on an outdoor adventure.
✨ Words That Resonate
“You are not weak for struggling; you are strong for facing your battles head-on.” – Unknown
We’re so lucky to have Kate on our team 💚

You can book online with Kate here: https://www.mindlifeclinic.com.au/kate-mathews
