Acupuncture & Pain Neuroscience = A powerful tool for Endometriosis and Adenomyosis management.

Endometriosis isn’t always a direct reflection of what’s happening in the tissues!

At our clinic, we combine traditional medicine with modern pain science to assist women with endometriosis and adenomyosis manage symptoms of pain and discomfort.

Here’s how it works:

1. Pain is protective and is not always a sign of damage.
Your nervous system can become hypersensitive over time, sending pain signals even when there’s no new inflammation. Acupuncture helps calm the nervous system to interrupt these pain signals.

2. Pain is processed in the brain.
Chronic endo pain can actually rewire your brain. Acupuncture affects brain regions linked to pain, helping retrain your system to feel safe again.

3. Pain is more than just physical.
Stress, hormones, sleep, past trauma, they are all connected. Acupuncture doesn’t just treat the uterus and surrounding tissues, It helps the whole person by regulating the nervous system to improve pain resilience.

4. Pain and damage don’t always match.
Some people with minimal endo lesions have severe pain, while others with extensive endo have minimal pain. Acupuncture respects this complexity and works with each person's unique set of symptoms, and constitution. It's so versatile.

5. Pain is changeable.
When you understand how pain works, you suffer less. Helping to educate on pain and how to manage in between appointments with dietary and lifestyle modifications.

6. Pain needs individualised care.
Pelvic pain isn’t one size fits all. Your treatment should reflect you and your symptoms. That’s why our acupuncture plans are tailored to your symptoms, stress levels, hormones, and cycle patterns. We may use supplements and herbal medicine to assist in hormonal balance and stress levels also.

Research shows acupuncture can reduce pelvic pain, improve quality of life, and support hormonal and immune regulation for people with endometriosis. We love to integrate both ancient knowledge and modern science to support women at every stage of their journey.

Book a consult or DM us to learn more about our Endometriosis Support Program - starting in August, where we combine acupuncture, education, and a basic supplement/herbal medicine to support you. This program is also perfect for those trying to conceive.

The Science of Connection! ✨

How a baby Leaves a Lasting Imprint on the Mother is truly amazing!

There’s something extraordinary happening during pregnancy that people might not have heard of - fetal-maternal microchimerism.

This fascinating process is where cells from the baby cross the placenta and migrate into the mother’s bloodstream, tissues, organs, and even brain. These cells can remain there for decades.

For around 40 weeks, a two-way cellular exchange occurs between mother and child. After birth, many of these fetal cells stay within the mother’s body, forming a kind of biological imprint, an enduring reminder of the life once carried. Even in pregnancies that don’t go to full term, or after an abortion, research shows that fetal cells may still integrate into the mother’s system.

What’s even more fascinating is how these cells behave. Studies have shown that fetal cells have been found to migrate to areas of injury in the mother’s body. For example, the heart, where they can transform into specialised cells that assist in healing. In this way, the baby helps repair the mother, just as the mother nurtures and grows the baby.

This might help explain why some illnesses seem to ease during pregnancy, or why certain pregnancy cravings can be traced to nutrient deficiencies that the baby may be influencing the body to correct and heal.

Perhaps this is part of the reason why many mothers describe a deep, intuitive connection with their children that endures across distance and time.

The relationship between mother and baby is cellular, not only emotional and energetic. It’s a beautiful example of the body’s intelligence and the profound connection formed through pregnancy.

If you’re navigating preconception, pregnancy, or postpartum, know that your body is doing incredible things, many of which science is only just beginning to understand.

Inflammation is your body's natural response to injury or infection.

Short-term (acute) inflammation is helpful. But chronic low-grade inflammation (oxidative stress) caused by poor diet, stress, environmental toxins, or underlying conditions like endometriosis or PCOS, can disrupt reproductive health by causing cellular damage.

Inflammation can alter fertility by:

💙Disrupting ovulation and hormone signalling
💙 Damaging endometrial lining - impairing implantation
💙 plays a key role in ovarian ageing which impacts egg quality and embryo development
💙 Damages DNA in s***m and egg
💙 Linked to PCOS, endometriosis, and unexplained infertility

Clinical studies have found acupuncture can
💛reduce pro-inflammatory markers like TNF-α and IL-6
💛Regulate the nervous system and reduces stress (which drives inflammation).
💛Certain acupucnture points maybe used to improve microcirculation within the reproductive organs, promoting blood flow and reducing tissue congestion.

Custom TCM formulas may also be used to target each patients unique pattern. Many of the herbs contained in a fertility formula have antiinflammatory properties to reduce systemic inflammation.

There are many other wonderful TCM tips and offerings we might suggest. DM if you have any questions regarding women’s health, hormones, or fertility, or to book a consultation click the link in Bio.

Endometriosis & PCOS - How Acupuncture Can Help

For those struggling with endometriosis or polycystic o***y syndrome (PCOS), the journey to conception can feel frustrating, and at times, disheartening. Both conditions can affect reproductive health in different ways, but they share a common thread—hormonal imbalances, inflammation, and disrupted ovulation.

💠 Endometriosis & Fertility
Endometriosis occurs when tissue similar to the uterine lining grows outside the uterus, leading to:
✔️ Severe menstrual pain
✔️ Inflammation & scar tissue that can block fallopian tubes
✔️ Hormonal imbalances affecting ovulation

✔️ An imbalanced reproductive microbiome

💠 PCOS & Fertility
PCOS is a metabolic and hormonal disorder that often causes:
✔️ Irregular or absent ovulation
✔️ High androgen levels leading to acne, hair growth, and weight gain
✔️ Insulin resistance, which impacts egg quality

🔹 How Can Acupuncture Help?
Acupuncture works by restoring balance to the body, improving blood flow to the reproductive organs, and reducing inflammation. Here’s how:

🌿 Regulates Hormones – Acupuncture helps balance estrogen, progesterone, and androgens, improving ovulation and cycle regularity.

🌿 Reduces Pain & Inflammation – By increasing circulation and promoting an anti-inflammatory response, acupuncture can help manage the pain of endometriosis and PCOS.

🌿 Supports Egg Quality & Ovulation – Improved blood flow to the ovaries and uterus creates a more fertile environment for conception.

🌿 Improves Insulin Sensitivity – Acupuncture can help regulate blood sugar and support metabolic health in PCOS patients.

🌟 Whether you’re trying to conceive naturally or with assisted reproductive treatments, acupuncture offers a holistic, evidence-based approach to improving fertility outcomes.

If you or someone you know is struggling with PCOS or endometriosis, acupuncture may be the missing piece in your fertility journey. Send us a message to learn how personalised treatments can support your reproductive health. 💛

Here's why acupuncture is so fabulous when trying to conceive naturally or to support IVF. Here’s some findings from the research…

✨ Women have found that higher levels of stress are associated with a longer time to conceive.
✨IVF studies have found a decrease in pregnancy rates in women undergoing in vitro fertilisation (IVF).
✨Stress hormones can interfere with ovulation and shorten the luteal phase.
✨Stress can also affect the quality of egg cells and the thickness of the endometrial layer.

Acupuncture is also great for…

✨Blood flow - Ovarian follicles and their eggs grow in response to various hormones as well as nutrient delivery via ovarian blood supply.
✨Increasing blood flow to the uterus and ovaries by relaxing the walls of blood vessels.
✨Optimises blood sugar metabolism and impacts insulin resistance

So much is covered during an acupuncture session! ✨

Gua Sha ✨

Here's what we do when we've got 5mins for a quick treatment and migraine is coming on 😅
Gua-sha (scraping therapy) Looks bad but feels great!

💧Oil on...

🥄Smooth edged tool..

🔄Repeated gentle scraping...

🔥Red Ecchymosis (red spots) arise...

So what happens when you receive Gua sha?

✨Nitrous oxide release in the tissues which halts pain signals via the nerves.
✨Increase in microcirculation
✨localised and distal decrease in muscle aches
✨Microtrauma in superficial tissues causes an anti-inflammatory response

We use it for pain relief, improving blood flow in the muscles, migraines, colds and flu, fascia release and breaking up tissue adhesions.

Gua Sha feels pretty good! Not painful! The benefits continue for the time the redness is present - around 1-4 days.
