We have been keeping a little secret! 🤫 After dropping everything and volunteering our time for two weeks on the Eyre Peninsula - it has made such an impact on us! So, The Blue Shirt Project are coming back! We have been very gratefully and humbly been invited to attend the Wudinna Show in September, BUT, the community have come together and acknowledged they need to stand up for there mates and have enrolled for Mental Health First Aid training! We just need a few more participants to enable this to happen and make a change to remote and rural towns in SA! This is not limited to any industry, or, to Wudinna alone, so please reach out to find out prices, more info or book in - Tan at the Wudinna Hospital is our contact in Wudinna, so hit her up too! Massive thanks to Tan, Brett, Zane who is the local butcher and my goodness THE BEST, Kerri & Trev in Kimba, Rural Business Support, and also Josh and Michelle at Ingham&co who if they didn’t start the Eyre Peninsula safety awareness, this wouldn’t be happening! We must look after our loved ones, communities, the butcher, bakers, volunteer emergency services, footy clubs, supermarkets and businesses, but our farming community who actually put food on our tables! They are the bread and butter and vital resources plus huge assets to any community! Ingham & Co are starting this off by funding a spot on the training course with the Blue Shirt Project for these communities to get this happening, because funds can be tight for our farmers! If you would like to contribute to funding a spot also and give these communities a hand, please reach out and make this happen! &co

When we say we travel, we travel! 3 weeks and 4 different states - SA, NSW, TAS and VIC! Why? Because we want to make sure the training, presentations, care and support we deliver, not only meets MHFA standards, but also, the purpose we stand for too! That purpose is for every single person knowing that they can call or have a conversation at any time and they are not alone, and that in itself, can save a life! All the data is telling everyone that insurance claims are increasing, mental health needs addressing and actually do something about it - so, what are you doing in the early intervention space? Get in touch with us and have a chat about how we can support you, your business, your work mates, your families - don’t wait until it’s too late to make a change! Thank you to for our limited edition Pom Pom beanie which is getting well used and travelled!

Eyre Peninsula Adventures with Ingham & Co! Cummins SA today, heard all about farm safety and mental health awareness and support! Josh and Michelle deliver such an amazing incentive for our farms and communities, which shows where you can improve compared to regulatory compliance, but also show the things you’re doing well. Like us, being independent, they show that level of care and proactive approach to make sure you and your people are safe - working with you, not against you or as a regulator. Al’s presentation was highly emotive, touching and relatable with him explaining how guards (or lack of) can cause serious injuries, which he has seen! Mental Health doesn’t discriminate and even in the room, the call for changes not just on sites but also in the community, needs to happen! The Blue Shirt Project even managed an interview with ABC highlighting mental health and breaking down the stigma, but also how we need to be more proactive and intervene with early intervention! Best part of today - the rain arrived for these much needed communities! &co

Kimba -SA - you didn’t disappoint! Our first stop on the road with Ingham & Co sharing farm safety and mental health awareness. Here on the Eyre Peninsula, the towns are doing it tough. From drought, to wind, to livestock, to everything in between - our farmers are amazing! From paddock to plate, from paddock to grain, it is pretty amazing to see where everything comes from and the processes involved. Resourcefulness is key and they do it well! We even had the absolute pleasure to attend the Kimba School Production - 30 years on from the first Grease production - it is great to see community connectivity and supporting each other! Huge thanks to Josh and Michelle from &co , Kerri and Trevor for having us and taking great care of us at home and in Kimba and Eyre Business for hosting the presentation. &co

The Blue Shirt Project has safely made it to the Eyre Peninsula in SA and ready to share some safety love with Ingham & Co. Josh and his team are number 1 for farm and agriculture safety and we couldn’t be more honoured to volunteer our time to join them and give back to the Eyre Peninsula - who are struggling with mental health in a tough climate. It’s a reminder that every industry has some form of mental health concerns - some are higher than others, yes - but we need Mental Health First Aiders on the ground to have those conversations and act as that conduit to services! For us, this is not a business, it is personal, and whilst we have left everything and everyone at home for two weeks, it only takes one conversation to save someone - and that is priceless! We can see the change that Ingham&co are making in safety, and continue to, as they deliver free workshops to the Eyre Peninsula, raising awareness and making our places safer! Safety comes in many forms and we need to protect our loved one, coworker and even families! &co

On Thursday, Al was invited to speak at the - .org.au - Australian Institute of Geoscientists (AIG) Victorian Minerals Round-up. The round-up showcases technical updates on Victorian projects, best practices, research, and technology related to the minerals sector. Al presented his mental health journey in a public forum of a few hundred geo-scientists, industry leaders, exploration teams and professionals, and how The Blue Shirt Project came about, but showcasing the importance of the visual aid enabling a rapid response approach by trained staff, when it’s need most. It was an extremely overwhelming experience with not many dry eyes in the auditorium, but also after the presentation, many people reaching out, acknowledging their own mental health and support for The Blue Shirt Project. This is why in Al’s moments of vulnerability, conversations are still occurring to normalise mental health. Many thanks to the AIG and Bill for inviting us along, please keep the conversations going and get training into place.

Two days in Clayton with delivering Mental Health First Aid! We couldn’t be prouder of the six men who put their hands up to do this course, but, now skilled to be there for their fellow coworkers and friends/family when they may need it most. Early intervention starts here and congratulations to Viridian Glass for taking that step forward to support their staff. It has been an absolute pleasure to deliver this course and we couldn’t have asked for a better group of people to work with! We will be back in a few weeks to give them all a blue shirt so everyone knows who the trained mental health first aiders are and ready to assist - stay tuned!

The week that was! Bit of delayed one this one, BUT, for all good reasons! Another busy week last week with a short week for most! We were lucky enough to join Bendigo Trades Union for the monthly meeting, where Al presented to the many unions that were there. His story resonated with a lot in the room and certainly highlighted the need for people/businesses to advocate to get visual Mental Health First Aiders on to sites, but not just for a tick and flick for Worksafe compliance. We also had two meetings in Melbourne over two days and hope we can get things moving in the corporate world! On top of that, with the countless emails and phone calls, we were a bit knackered by Sunday, but know we have had so many good conversations over the week, that it has certainly raised awareness! This week, we are off to conduct training in Clayton and maybe try to catch up on some office time! Exciting things are happening and let’s get people and businesses actually doing something about it! # Ballarat
