When therapy asks Autistic children to push through discomfort, ignore their boundaries, or change themselves to be accepted, it stops being supportive and starts being harmful.
Neuroaffirming therapy recognises that behaviour is communication, that regulation comes before learning, and that trust is not optional - it’s foundational.
Support should feel safe. Consent should be respected. Relationships should come before goals.
Autistic children don’t need to be trained to fit the world. They deserve support that honours who they are and helps them thrive, as they are. 🌟
