Today I gave birth to www.wekounsel.com.au.

This beautiful infant will be nurtured with love and compassion and, like every parent, as I grow in my knowledge and confidence, so too will this newborn.

I invite you to take a look at this little bub and welcome your feedback to support it's growth.

Because as EVERY parent knows...it takes a village to raise a child.

I thank you for your feedback and thank you ALL for being a part of my village.

THE WEB OF PARENTING

Hello Parents (and parents to be, and parents’ villagers),
Today, I start a new journey…truth be told it’s a very, very, very old and long journey…a journey to being my true and wonderful self.
A clear, loud and *hopefully* helpful lighthouse to that special village of parents who needs to see the light I can provide.
A light from a completely fallible parent and human being!

DISCLAIMER: I AM DESIGNED TO SEE PATTERNS. I AM DESIGNED TO CHALLENGE OTHERS OUT OF THEIR STUCKNESS. THESE ARE SOME OF THE GIFTS THAT I SHARE AND AT TIMES MAY BE BADLY PERCEIVED. THAT’S OK. IT IS PART OF THE JOURNEY. SO, IF YOU FEEL YOUR BUTTONS BEING PUSHED BY WHAT I WRITE – GOOD! YOU ARE OPEN TO SHIFTING OUT OF YOUR STUCKNESS! GO YOU!

So, let’s get started…PARENTING!

This is such a massive topic – I typed “parenting” into Google and it showed “About 217,000,000 results”. That’s HUGE! I mean, if I were to read all that information, I would have ZERO time to actually parent!

Oh, and I get the irony of me adding to that number by the way 😊

That said, I believe we all find what we need when we need it, and one of my biggest wishes for this world is to create closer knit communities.

I whole-heartedly believe it takes a village to raise our children.
We are all in need of help, perspective-and sometimes…or often…a place to openly say “I have NO idea what I’m doing” and have someone else say, “Me neither. Let’s figure it out together.”

So what? You may be asking.

Well, I am inviting all you parents out there to join me on a wonderful journey into your past, your present and imagining (and practicing) your new future of accepting yourself as the perfectly imperfect human being that you are…and then go beyond that to understanding how you possess wonderful gifts to offer your family and the world.

To begin the journey the next step is SIMPLE…

Hellooo everyone out there...it's been a while right?

Ok, so a minor update with more to follow.

Basically, I've been working with the wonderful team Wildflower Holistic Services to develop our second term of Raising Wildflowers AND adapting this for online delivery.

Now we are in week 3 and it's flying...

I have also been deepening my own understanding of myself through contemplation using my new FAVOURITE system - HUMAN DESIGN.

If you find yourself asking what HD is, then I encourage you to go explore more for yourself...it has been truly mind-blowing for me!

And, if you are more of a 'I'd rather you just tell me' kind of person, feel free to message me.

A few months back a wonderful friend, Alex , sent me an email with details for a South Western Sydney PHN grant...Supporting Communities in Recovery. This email followed a some conversations we had had of how to better support our local community and the families therein.

In April, WeKounsel was SUCCESSFUL in our application! Woohoo!

And Thursday, 29th April, in collaboration with Wildflower Holistic Services, I started a new and wonderful journey to deliver Raising Wildflowers!

Friday...aaah...I can take a breath...

Tonight, I've been caught up in a world of curiosity.

Have you ever heard of businesses operated by minimum donation?

To clarify, I'm talking about commercial businesses here, not charities.

The concept is that businesses offer their services for a minimum figure providing the option for users to pay that figure, or more if they wish.

For example, as a counselling coach, if I offered my sessions for a minimum donation of $50, people could donate that amount, or more depending on the value they attach to the service I provide.

What are your thoughts or comments about this business model, where value for service is essentially determined by the user?

As we move into March today, I took a look back at the intentions I have set for WeKounsel over the last 5 months.

In part to see where I have been and in part to help me move forward.

Initially, as with any new venture, I took action to get started, focussed on completing the tasks I had taken on.

I transitioned in SO many ways...my employment, my parenting role, my very idea of who I am and where I plan to go.

I spent January self-caring and February reconnecting to my passions.

This month, MINDFULNESS, is the intention I am setting.

I came to this by way of realising that there are many distractions in the world. In my world.

And this journey, is similar to many of your journeys.

As February comes to an end and I take stock, I realise how variable this month has been.

I have invested many hours into my new passion of Human Design. I have talked about it, read about it, listened to podcasts and YouTube videos about it...really delved! I have even developed my own spreadsheet. That's the researcher in me. Always keeping track of my findings and references.

I have also put these skills to good use, and March will see the outcome of my efforts (alongside some other wonderful people), in our application for funding to deliver more supports for families in Wollondilly LGA. 🤞 We are successful...more on that later.

And finally, I stepped away from Human Design and looked more closely at what I do. The importance of providing a space for individuals to just be, and I am grateful to be able to offer that to others.

Today, I am taking some time out to reflect on a curious phrase we accept in society...single parent.

I've been pondering this in, possibly too much, detail.

What does it mean to be a single parent. Each child biologically has two parents. There are grandparents, great grandparents and our own 'villages' of parents.

So, if I refer to myself as a single parent, am I unaware of my own supports?

Do I truly have no other parent support?

If my child's other parent and I are separated/divorced does that make us both single parents? Or separated/divorced parents?

Sometimes I wonder if we get so attached to our labels, or the ones allocated to us for bureaucratic purposes, that we forget/ignore the supports we have.

Second month of 2021 and I've been so engrossed in my own development that I've not posted in waaay too long.

It feels like I am still emerging from my 2020 cocoon...the weather is so beautiful and it feels like everything needs to happen slowly.

That said, I've been busy in my cocoon working toward my Lifeline accreditation. Over Christmas I blasted through Stage 2 (Student Placement) and I am now in Stage 3 (Internship).

The skills I've been learning, the practice I've been getting in short term crisis management and the wonderful people I've been meeting has been SO incredibly rewarding.

So, I'm in getting back to my monthly themes this month, February, my focus is PASSION.

The month which celebrates Valentine's Day and is the shortest month of our year, I am spending indulging my new passion Human Design.

Human Design essentially shows us our individual blueprint. A map of our life purpose. Wouldn't it be great to have a map to guide you through this life? Knowledge of yourself so you can tune into yourself and a guide to help you live your life with purpose and intention.
