Mind Maps

Hi, my name is Kate. I am a passionate Social Worker, with degree in Psychology, and a keen interest in developmental and child psychology and mental health. But most importantly I am a mum of two little people; one who is 4.5yo and one who is just over 1yo. My intention for this page is purely to share information that I think might be helpful to someone, somewhere; even in the littlest of ways.

There have been times where I have had conversations with my friends, or people in therapeutic settings about their little ones, and we laughed about raising the "threenagers", or trying to foster a "strong, independent" child while also trying to maintain our own sanity - and sometimes it was just the tiniest bit of information about their little one's current neurological abilities, or options to adjust the behaviour which I was able to pass on to that Mum, Dad, or parent figure to give them some confidence and understanding to approach their child's behaviour in a different way, or from a different perspective.

I am passionate about psychoeducation, and I am a firm believer that there is an abundance of information available, it is just sometimes hard to navigate the channels you need to find it.

As for information about childhood behaviour and developmentally appropriate expectations, I know that often when we are in the midst, and in the firing line of those big emotions from our little ones, it is often so hard to hold space with them and remember that they are only little.
