Child care access is a BIG issue for our community and the wellbeing of families. Please take a few minutes to complete this important survey and share in your networks. Have a say to help us get the resources we need.

Access to childcare is a big issue across the ๐Œ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ซ๐š๐ฒ๐ฅ๐š๐ง๐๐ฌ & ๐‘๐ข๐ฏ๐ž๐ซ๐ฅ๐š๐ง๐โ€” and we want to hear directly from the people who know it best.

Whether youโ€™re a parent/carer or work in early childhood education, your experience can help shape the future of childcare in our region.

We want to understand:
โœ… Parents โ€“ your experiences finding care, waitlists, and what you need
โœ… Workers โ€“ what itโ€™s like in the sector, workforce challenges, and opportunities
โœ… Where the biggest gaps are across our communities
โœ… What solutions could actually work locally

Your feedback will directly inform regional planning and help communities get ready for future funding opportunities, including the Building Early Education Fund (BEEF).

OLD CANNERY MURAL

On Saturday March 23, community members Carol and Rhonda organised a reunion for those who worked at Berri Fruit Juices and the cannery before their closure. They were delighted to discover that Our Town Berri had created banners of the Cannery Mural to showcase the community art project on the factory wall before the mural was removed.

The banners feature panels of the original design along with an explanation depicting the history of the Riverland. We were able to capture this important story through creating the banners and theyโ€™re assets we can share with the community.

The banners were the backdrop for the photographs of their reunion.

โ€œWe had a fantastic day..& the banners made it extra special. Not everyone who came was in the group photo..probably around 65 enjoyed the reunion all up. So many memories & laughs!โ€ - Carol

These Cannery Mural banners can be borrowed from the Berri Public Library to display at your event, school or business. A lovely way to share our stories.

WREATH OF STORIES

Well done Karl on their beautiful event. Over five workshops, Karl encouraged community members to share their histories, their connections to the Riverland and describe the things that are important to them.

With approximately 200 people adding to the wreath over five Riverland workshops, Karl wrapped up their River Fringe event in Berri along the riverfront where Communication Lead, Kirste, joined in on the session and added her own ribbon to the tangle of community stories.

The photo below is the result of five workshop sessions!

SAM MITCHELL TRAINING

Weโ€™re loving to see how many people are completing their Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander Mental Health First Aid Training with our partner Sam Mitchell Training, including River Families First Lead, Britney.

Samโ€™s training is deeply valuable to our community and to our team, learning directly from First Nations people about First Nations issues and experiences is so important. Samโ€™s training is a way to demystify our own biases and a safe environment to ask questions.

If youโ€™d like to complete your Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander Mental Health First Aid Training and you live or work in Berri, please reach out to Sam. Our Town Berri may be able to support financially to make this training accessible.
