Modern pain science has come to understand that the complexities of chronic pain can present opportunities for relief.

Of the many factors that contribute to your discomfort, some will be fixed but others are modifiable.

I can work with you to build a solid understanding of your situation and use modern pain science to develop ways to improve it.

Talking about climate change with our children... should we be reassuring or do we need to be realistic? We fear for their future yet we don't want them to be frightened.

You're not alone if you're wondering how to navigate this. It's the question I'm most often asked.

You'll find my perspective with some evidence-based guidance here:πŸ‘‡

The short answer is both! There is very good evidence that having therapy while taking anti-anxiety medication or anti-depressants achieves the best outcomes for most people. That said, many people don't need medication to benefit from therapy, while some conditions don't respond to therapy alone. The best approach will depend on your personal circumstances. You can book a free 15 min consultation to talk about your situation at outdoorcounselling.org

Depression is insidious, pervasive, and ... treatable ☺️
Prof. Ian Hickie's 2023 book debunks damaging myths, demystifies complex issues, and describes useful ways forward.
If depression, in any of its forms, darkens your life, this book is well worth checking out.

The Devil You Knew explores the spectre of depression – what it is, where it comes from and the common myths and misconceptions surrounding it – so we can find our unique path to healing and live fulfilling lives on our own terms.
