🪷 Dinacharya – Step 9: Abhyanga (Oil Massage) 🌿
Abhyanga is the Ayurvedic practice of applying warm oil over the body — a ritual for health, vitality, and longevity. According to Ayurveda, Pitta types should do Abhyanga every other day, Kapha types once every 3-4 days, and Vata types daily.
Oils based on your body type:
✔️ Sesame, olive, or almond oil work well for all.
✔️ Coconut oil suits Pitta types best.
✔️ Medicated oils like Kottam chukkadi taila (Vata), Pinda taila (Pitta), and Eladi taila (Kapha) target specific imbalances.
🌿 How to do Abhyanga:
Warm your oil, then massage your whole body — focusing on the head, inside the ears, palms, navel and soles — for 15 to 30 minutes or more.
✨ Benefits of regular Abhyanga:
❤️ Softens and moisturises skin, reducing dryness and wrinkles.
❤️ Relieves tiredness and strengthens muscles, bones & joints.
❤️ Improves circulation, promotes sound sleep, and supports toxin elimination.
❤️ Head Massage (Shiroabhyanga): Nourishes the scalp and senses, promotes healthy hair growth, mental clarity, and relaxation.
❤️ Facial Massage (Mukhabhyanga): Improves complexion, tones facial muscles, stimulates nerves, and slows aging.
Make Abhyanga a sacred part of your daily self-care — a nourishing ritual for body, mind, and spirit.
